The TapCounter app is only available for people participating in an academic research study. The purpose of this research app is to continuously collect the timing patterns of screen touches. The data collected will be further processed to learn behavioral patterns and further explore the basic understanding of basic human behavior to gain a more comprehensive understanding of brain health. The core functionality of this research app depends on a foreground service that continuously collect the timing of screen touches throughout the day and physical activity for scientific research purposes. For this type of data collection, the app must always be running. We only collect the timing of the taps and the app in the foreground at the moment of the touches, no other user generated content is recorded. While the data collection process is always running, the battery and processor are minimally impacted. The foreground service shows the user that the data collection is running correctly.

The app itself only shows minimal data to the study participant to avoid biased behavior and DOES NOT provide any health-related features but is only used for human subject research.

Data and privacy protection: No personally identifiable information or content as text, images, browsing history, GPS or contact details are ever collected. All data is encrypted on the phone and stored securely in Microsoft Azure servers under anonymous codes. The data is transmitted from the user’s phone to the cloud in the presence of Internet connectivity.

Information for researchers:
QuantActions empowers researchers to explore cognitive insights and neurological health based on smartphone touchscreen interactions. The TapCounter app facilitates scientific data collection. Gone are the days of cumbersome wearables. The TapCounter app collects data passively, providing a seamless and unobtrusive solution for data collection outside the laboratory environment. Optionally, researchers have the ability to send their own surveys directly to their participants via the app. This app ensures accurate monitoring without burdening participants as it has a high compliance rate.

To streamline the research process, QuantActions provides an online web tool that allows researchers to easily manage participants and results related to cognition, sleep, social engagement, circadian and multi-day cycles, as well as raw data for exploring novel analysis.
