Synthors are Synthetic Thought Generators that let you text chat with books.
This one is based on the Republic by Plato. It will let you chat with Socrates and find out exactly and accurately, what he said all those years ago. But please, use language that a person from 2500 years ago would understand!
Words from Socrates, spoken around 376 BCE and transcribed by his student Plato, the Republic shapes our understanding of governance and how nations should work, but is seldom read. The references come from another person, who heard it from another person....like in a Chinese Whisper.
But not this Synthor. It does not make things up. Not one word of the original text is ever altered.
This Synthor is like a friend who has profound knowledge of the Republic. And nothing else. Its mind, consisting of the contents of just one book would respond as a whimsical but knowledgeable reader of that book.
It can be moody, forgetful and disjointed - it all depends on you....
Our source text is: The Republic, circa 375BCE, as provided by The Internet Classics Archive at http://classics.mit.edu//Plato/republic.html
Developed by Sugata Mitra at the Tataha Kim Laboratory. "Synthor" is copyright of Sugata Mitra since 2020.
