General Aviation Airborne Recording Device (GAARD™) is a prototype application designed to enhance aviation safety. Pilots can use this application to participate in the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) GA Demonstration Project taking place in Phoenix, AZ.The GA Demonstration project is an expansion of the commercial ASIAS program designed to improve safety by incorporating new voluntary GA data sources submitted by the community. GAARD will collect GPS position and, if equipped, attitude information to contribute to the project.
• Participation in the GA Demonstration Project will improve the safety of general aviation.
• Playback recorded data in GAARD, NGAFID or Google Earth
• Pilots who participate in safety programs are less likely to be involved in an accident (GAO 13-36, pg. 13)
