I like this app to keep track of my rows and stitches. The manual can be vastly improved for instructions on how to assemble linked markers. Setup is very nice, but I am using it on a phone and cannot get it to crop and join charts because the phone is too small and unresponsive. I really, really, REALLY want this app on my desktop where I have a mouse! Having this as a desktop would make it the best on the market. I could edit my patterns, then send them to my phone to knit.

I like the idea of this app more than the execution of it. It uses a bunch of symbols for its primary navigation that just don't mean anything to me. I had to go to FAQs on their website to figure out basic features. Uploading a PDF, a core feature, is not supported within the app. You have to locate the downloaded file on your device and choose to use it in the kC app. It's weird to have to leave an app so many times to interact with it. Not sure I'll keep this one installed.

Very confusing UI and lack of info about subscription levels. I use android, and subscribe to the Essentials level for $12.99/ year. When I first subscribed, I was able to highlight, add notes etc but now I cannot. The info on your website faq has 2 columns for subscription options listed, KCBasics, and Setup + Essentials. Where is the info for the Essentials alone? What is the difference between Essentials and Basics. Which one is the free version? Am I paying $12.99 / yr for the free version?

I'm confused. I installed the app on my phone as well as my tablet a few days ago, played around with it and decided to subscribe for a year. Once I subscribed, I kept receiving these emails advising to use the app within the next 3 days or the sub would be cancelled. I used it a few times on both devices. Today it got cancelled. I'm confused as to what "using" the app actually entails ... otherwise, I would give 5 stars. Update: After a few days, my subscription clicked in.

Convenient; does what I need. I shouldn't have to install an app to find out price. Your website with video tutorials etc. has an FAQ with a "paid options and cost" entry. Guess what info is conspicuously absent? Yeah it's the cost. Tell. Me. The. Cost. Up. Front. I want to know the pricing for all available tiers. A knitting app is not an "if you have to ask you can't afford it" moment. Pricing is public information. EDIT: gimme numbers and a currency; I can look that up, easy.

I've been enjoying knitCompanion for a few years now, and had purchased the Essentials subscription because it didn't have all the features on Android and I didn't need the extras. I thought I would upgrade with the new version, but the subscription cost is crazy! I pay $12.99 annually for the Essentials, and they're asking $40.99 for the next step? I'm so disappointed. I can't decide if I should bother but if I wait, who knows what it'll cost in a year?

Thought I'd try this app, since it is highly recommended by a lot of other knitters. But.....trying the basic version, and the first thing I want to do is to adjust the highlighter bar so that it doesn't cover 1.5 rows of the chart, and I am immediately told that that is a paid for part, and I have to pay over $16 CAD for a 1 year subscription??? Uhm, to me this sounds like a major money grab.... With Pattern Keeper for cross stitch I get to use the full version for 1 month free before I pay $13 CAD for lifetime use. How do you expect me to see if I like the app enough to pay a yearly subscription fee if one of the most basic things is not available???? I liked what I saw on the videos by Very Pink, but I can't use most of the things she showed without paying up front. And no, I am not about to spend $600 on an iPad either.

$30.50 per year for Essentials + Setup? That's insane. Especially when some of the options don't work well. The Magic Markers so far only recognize some of the stitches in a chart rather than all of them, and if the chart square is blank (usually for a knit stitch) it doesn't recognize any of the other knit squares at all. There's some work to be done on the new features still.
