This is the first app I've ever chosen to review. I stay in hotels all the time. One of the worst things is waiting in line to check in, only to get to your room and they programmed the key wrong so you have to lug everything down to the front desk again to get a new key. Mistakes happen. But,when it happened with this app, I called the front desk and they fixed it right then. New key downloaded to my phone and I entered my room. I now absolutely love this app.

First times a charm! This is the first time I have used an app like this for a hotel stay and to be honest I have been dreading it. But open key made it quick and easy. The app was easy to figure out and work through and it was nice not having to worry about where our physical keys were (as we have 3 small children and things get misplaced constantly!) But we always had our phones with us! Will definitely look for open key hotels in the future.

I discovered that online travel booking companies like Expedia give a different phone number and email address to the hotels and pass messages through to your real numbers. So you need to make sure the hotel has your actual phone number on file before using the app so it can find your reservation. Nothing they can really do about it. Overall, love the app.

It's very reliable and secure. Seems that the key is an actual file, so I had to give it permission to store the file on my phone. It works using Bluetooth, so I had to give that permission as well. I looked it up,and location uses GPS, WIFI, and Bluetooth, so you can't use the key without location turned on. I'm always leary about permissions, but I understand why this app wouldn't work without these.

I had a very good experience with this app. Installing and answering a few questions was simple, then I received my room key. It didn't respond the first couple tries, but I realized the locks need to "wake up" before they recognize it. Putting the phone close to the lock is what wakes it up. When I asked, they said it's because the operate on batteries. Go figure.

My boyfriend and I just checked into our hotel and used this app. The faucet in our room didn't work, so we notifed the front desk. They offered us to switch rooms, which would normally be a hassle in this big of a property. But, because we chose to use mobile keys they were able to change our room without us having to go all the way back to the lobby. Instead, we moved to the next room over immediately. She just sent a new key to his phone, he shared it with me, and bam! We're in. Five stars!

Downloaded twice (once from open key via reservation link and once from Google Play Store). Installed fine on my high end android phone. I turned on location and bluetooth on phone, then accepted notifications and permissions for app. When the window for entering mobil phone # opened, the app flashed each number as I entered them, but they disappeared. The end result being the apo would not accept any phone number. Thus, this app was totally useless to me and I would give it zero stars.
