I loved the original raindar so much so that I searched for it today after all these years after it was discontinued. To my surprise, it has come back as a new version!

I don't like all the extra "stuff". I always liked just the radar. I can get dozens of weather guesser apps. Also I dislike that the map displays at lat 0 / long 0, (the African continent) before grabbing the phone location and moving. Another example of taking a good product and trying to "improve" it only to make it worse.

I've missed the old Raindar app for over a year now. And it's back! Maybe not the exact same but looks 10 times better than the rest! We just need a reliable solution for weather that's happening now and hopefully this one is like the last and if it shows it's about to rain you better believe it. I used to be able to predict a couple hours in advance and be within 10 minutes of when it would start raining. And on the Florida gulf coast it builds and disappears constantly. Dev please kill adds

I'm revising my review to 5 stars. I used the old raindar for a long time and loved it. When I got new phone I found Raindar2. I was disapointed at first because often there would no radar data or wrong data. That seems to have been fixed. If the data is questionable at least the app tells you. Before I had to compair it to other radar apps. I've now uninstalled those other apps. One thing better then the old Raindar, it updates the radar periodicly w/o having to move the map.

UPDATE: After being down for weeks and "fixed", I now notice terrible ads at the bottom of the screen. Uninstalled immediately. If I knew the app was supported, would always function and was more accurate, I'd pay for the ad free version, but these days who knows. Old: Is this app still supported? Going on, what, a week "Radar imagery may be down. Please try again later." All the time with this. What is this? What's the point of the app? I've never had this issue with other radar. *Still down.

Been a Raindar fan since it 1st came out. Used the original til the wheels fell off. Updated to Raindar II: I'd still like to be able to tweak the geek radar parameters in settings. The animation loop is still great. Set to 6 frames, it shows an hour, and holds 2 counts on most recent frame. That's a total of 7 counts. Please hold for 3 counts, then it will be natural 8 beats like most music. Can't reset map rotation w/o returning to home loc. UI convention is 1st click, reset rotation; 2nd, loc

EDIT: Read ahead to see that I thought the app was great. Dev. person / team seems to have no interest in maintaining the app so it has gone down hill bad! End EDIT: So far, so good. Thank you for continuing the "Raindar" legend and staying true to its roots. I used the predecessor for years and I am very pleased that you kept the simplicity of an amazing app. I have only had it one day but as you continue to upgrade / tweak it I hope it remains the same basic, no frills application it was designed to replace.

I also have used Raindar for many years . . . both at home and on many cross-country motorcycle trips. It combines the route information of a map app with real-time information about rain intensity, direction, and speed. Raindar has helped me stay drier and safer . . . especially during the summer in the southeast! I recently upgraded to a cell phone with an android version that "does not support Raindar" 😟: this Raindar WORKS! How can I pay and get an ad-free version?! 😉
