Fall of Normandy (German D-Day defense) is a turn based strategy game set on the western front during the Second World War immediately after the D-Day invasion on June 6th 1944. From Joni Nuutinen: By a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011. Last updated July 2025"The enemy has landed in force. We are fighting a desperate battle, but we are being overwhelmed."
- Generalleutnant Karl Wilhelm von Schlieben, commander of the German 352nd Infantry Division
You are in command of the German armed forces on the European Western Front in 1944 and burdened with the semi-impossible task of stopping the long-expected massive Allied invasion. You are supposed to push the Allies forces back into the ocean by eliminating all five landing beaches in Normandy while facing overwhelming numerical Allied superiority and enduring the constant Allied bombardment limiting your mobility. The troops at your disposal range from the fragile Ost (East) battalions and weak static infantry divisions to the battle-hardened Panzer VI Tiger formations. Can you make any real headway towards the Allied beachheads, which are getting reinforcements and replacements in a constant flow?
Fair warning: Thanks to the historical Allied superiority that is applied to the game, this is a tough campaign to win. Any major mistakes are likely to result in the Allied tanks victoriously pushing through the remnants of your front line, and the fairly small scale of the map multiplies the effect compared to larger-scale scenarios in which losing a few hexagons is usually not such a big deal.
This game is effectively the opposite of the D-Day game, in which you play the Allies. The smaller map size makes the turns go by much more quickly than in some of the massive campaigns with large numbers of units spread over vast map.
Thanks to all the optimizations, the download size of this app is only around 700KB, so it should run even on older budget devices that are severely storage-limited.
FEATURES:
+ Competitive: Measure your strategy game skills against others fighting for the Hall of Fame top spots.
+ Settings: Wide array of options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of houses), decide what is drawn on the map, and much more.
+ Historical accuracy: Campaign mirrors the historical setup of the real 1944 Normandy landings - including the divisions that saw combat during the D-Day and the following Normandy Campaign in World War II.
Join your fellow strategy gamers in turning the tide of the Second World War!
"The situation is very serious. The Allies have a complete operational victory. After the first few days, we can only expect to slow them down, not stop them."
- Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel, commander of the German Army Group B

Very realistic, the outcome is never in doubt...so why play it? If there was a mod that didn't include all of Hitlers mistakes, it could be 5 stars.

It's a bit too easy. The allied air superiority is not represented.

Not bad. I keep getting wiped out but refuse to surrender!!!

I know this is D-day, but I wish it was similar to your other games: like an Ultra Easy difficulty, actual clouds for the storms. Simple things like that.

Only thing i don't like is the ai is weak when you use the more difficult settings instead of ai getting smarter they just make the allied units stronger

Excellent so far. Later turns I usually have troubles, smaller scale works for me.
