Garmin Pilot is a comprehensive aviation application that allows pilots to plan, file, fly and log with ease.

Garmin Pilot is the most comprehensive suite of tools for Android designed specifically for general aviation and corporate pilots. Flight planning, filing, charts, interactive maps, weather briefing resources and navigation capabilities; it’s all included. The app’s intuitive interface mirrors those on the newest Garmin touchscreen avionics so you can go seamlessly from preflight to inflight. Plan, file, fly with Garmin Pilot.

Plan

Garmin Pilot’s powerful capabilities start with pre-flight planning, providing pilots with the most comprehensive aviation weather information to make better-informed flight decisions. Pilots can check NEXRAD radar, visible and infrared cloud imagery, METARs, TAFs, AIRMETs, SIGMETs, PIREPs, NOTAMs, winds and temperature aloft, PIREPs, TFRs and lightning data. With Garmin Pilot, data can be displayed over a VFR sectional or an IFR low or high en-route chart to visualize the weather for your route. Add text-based weather widgets and use the exclusive NavTrack feature to view weather along the planned route.

File

With Garmin Pilot, users can easily enter a flight plan. Pre-loaded forms make it quick to save and reuse data for frequently flown routes. And when the flight plan is ready, Garmin Pilot makes it simple to file, cancel or close the flight plan.

Fly

Garmin Pilot provides full en-route navigation capability on its moving map, while showing ETE, ETA, cross track error, distance to waypoint and current position.

Log

Garmin Pilot includes a comprehensive electronic logbook that syncs with flyGarmin. The logbook automatically generates entries based upon GPS data collected during the flight, tracks currency, supports manual entries, endorsements and creates reports.

Garmin Pilot. It’s the app aviators have been waiting for.

Features include:
- Charts: VFR Sectionals, low and high IFR en-route, airport diagrams and approach procedures
- Optional geo-reference Garmin FliteCharts® and Garmin SafeTaxi® show aircraft position on approach charts and taxiways
- Weather Maps: Animated radar, AIRMETs/SIGMETs, Lightning, PIREPs, METARs/TAFs, Winds Aloft, TFRs, Infrared and Visible Satellite
- Extensive text products: METARs, TAFs, Winds Aloft, PIREPs, AIRMETs, SIGMETs, Area Forecasts and NOTAMs
- Dynamic weather overlays with your route displayed on map
- AOPA Airport Directory
- Flight plan filing via Lockheed Martin and DUATS
- Comprehensive weather data direct from the National Weather Service and Environment Canada

Nov 2024 Review Update. Great cabin management and navigational aid with many shortcomings. (1) Poor Android optimization with frequent crashes, (2) lack of updates compared to iOS: Printable Navlog was added in Dec 2023 when iOS got it Nov 2022, still unable to load instrument approach procedures, (3) scratchpad & chart annotations needs a pen/color/eraser toolbar instead of the clunky pop-out widget, (4) no S-Pen support for quickly erasing. Highly recommend getting an iPad instead.

Android Support and features seem to have been forgotten. Support tried their best but were not able to fix the obvious bugs in this Android version. I'm using this on a new tablet Samsung Galaxy A9. NOTAMS fail to load sometimes, there is a persistent "Loading Weather Data" message that never leaves the screen, the artificial horizon in synthetic vision isn't aligned with the actual horizon, and many layout problems with large portions of the screen occupied by title bars with no info.

I was a paid subscriber for 2 years but have now canceled my subscriptions. Firstly, Garmin skrewed up my renewal after the first year. The money was deducted from my account but the subscription was not renewed and thus I lost access to the charts. After a +- 1 week garmin managed to fix the issue. My second issue has come recently where my subscription has randomly changed from Africa to Asia and once again I have lost access to charts and all paid benefits.

Edit: so they actually released an update which fixed my last problem so +1 Star for that but now a new problem with the logbook. Current problem: flight time not syncing from the app. Luckily I don't have any check rides coming up but if I did that would be a major issue. Even so it's not ideal to have flights logged but flight time not syncing so I'm hoping this can be fixed.

Now it cannot even do logbook entries without totally screwing them. Keeps setting my *FLIGHT* time to 0.0 and my *DUAL RECEIVED* time to match Total Time. Neither is correct but it keeps changing them back. Remind me again why I keep paying for this GARBAGE!?!?!

Update for those using GP on an Android device, if you are having issues with the Performance for the aircraft, i.e. not being able to add fuel burn or do anything with Performance, DO NOT use this app for your checkride! I have talked to Service and nothing can be changed on the Performance for Android products at this time. I guess I'm going to have to trade in my tablet for an Apple product and get Foreflight. STUDENTS (I am one) get an Apple tablet and get Foreflight!

This app is a joke. Really unfortunate as I love to have an Android option and hate having to buy 🍎 junk, but this app is simply useless. - no support for waypoints in KML or CSV. to add insult to injury, it has an jmlort option it just doesn't work. - lacking support for ADS-B, maybe you'll get lucky but most are not supported. - lousy support for Garmin brand GPS GLO 2, required dev options and an app to fake location when they can easily just use the data over Bluetooth themselves.

Overall I've had a good experience with the app. Like other's have said. The startup is slow. really slow. I use an external GPS (Garmin GDL50). I haven't had any problems with that. After one of the updates this year all my plans and pilots in the app disappeared. Contacted support. they said to log and and back in again. (that fixed it). My biggest complaint would be the android version lags behind the IOS version. I"d give it more stores if they were in parity.
