Arrakis. Dune. Desert Planet. Raise your banner above the vast wasteland before you. As the Great Houses of the Landsraad marshal their forces and their spies, whom will you influence, and whom will you betray? A tyrannical Emperor. The secretive Bene Gesserit. The shrewd Spacing Guild. The ferocious Fremen of the Deep Desert. The power of the Imperium can be yours, but war is not the only way to claim it.
Dune: Imperium blends deck-building and worker placement in a deeply thematic new strategy game where the fate of the Empire hangs on your decisions. Will you seek political allies or rely upon military might? Economic strength or subtle intrigues? A council seat… or a sharpened blade? The cards are dealt. The choice is yours. The Imperium awaits.

The game itself is great, and the UI is well designed, but the app has some issues. It will sometimes freeze, then when you reconnect it makes you watch all the animations you missed while you were disconnected, meaning your turn gets skipped again because you can't take an action while the animations are playing, and then you get kicked for not taking a turn.

AI always seems to be able to produce one more combat point than you even when you cover the field in troops and they only have 1. And they do it so fast you can't even see what it is they're doing. And that's on easy mode. No pass and play. Character selection is randomized. Good music and graphics but the OP AI is obnoxious and you can't play with friends offline.

Great digital board game with high replayability in the form of varying play styles, challenging offline AI, and some alternative rule sets/modes. Online modes offer live or "async" play with friends and random players on mobile and PC (Steam). The Rise of Ix expansion adds characters and cards that give the game even more replayability with new avenues to victory, more variety to how a match unfolds, and a new mode.

The tabletop game is one of my favorite games ever, not just because I am admittedly a Dune fan. This nails the digital adaptation, and now with the rise of Ix expansion, I can sink my teeth in it fully. Ix revamps a few spots on the board and overhauls the cash&spice economy fixing the major issues in the core game. plus they add CHOAM shipping, dreadnoughts, and purchasable tech. I would say the Ix expansion is necessary, and worth the ten bucks.

Every 5th or 6th game the app freezes and I get "An error occurred" message when trying to come back and ofc get kicked out of the game. Not clear what is the source of the problem and no intuitive way to report it. Very frustrating experience.

It's really fun to play on moving even though I'm not very good at it. Practicing on your own is nice for the rare moments you can talk your friends into playing the board game

Great when it works, but I fail to launch a match 9 times out of 10: massive waste of time.
