To encourage the general public to report traffic violations, the Traffic Management Division of Delhi Police launched a Traffic Sentinel Scheme in December, 2015. Towards this, Delhi Police launched a Mobile Application i.e. ‘Traffic Sentinel’ for Android and iOS users. The Traffic Sentinel Scheme has been re-launched as ‘Traffic Prahari’ on September 1, 2024.
The ‘Traffic Prahari ‘App is available on Google Play Store (for Android users) and Apple Store (for iOS users). After installation, the user has to start the App and register with his/her mobile number by entering the OTP, Name and Email ID.
The users can report specified traffic violations by capturing photos or videos of offending vehicles and send them to Delhi Traffic Police through the App for subsequent prosecution of the offenders.
The information regarding Date, Time, Place, Registration Number and Type of violation is mandatory to issue a notice u/s 133 M. V. Act, 1988 against traffic violation. Thus, Traffic Praharis are expected to provide this information. GPS coordinates, Date and Time are picked from mobile handset automatically.
An attractive reward system is also a part of the scheme. On the basis of points earned, the active Praharis shall be rewarded.

You cannot record a complaint if you don't upload a video. Sometimes, people are driving so fast that making a video is not possible. Also, it's not possible to shoot a video of a vehicle making loud noise at 3 a.m.!! Most user-unfriendly app.

The app should allow to attach video or image from gallary so that people can record the violation and report it when they get some time to do so. While riding a vehicle most of people arent going to park, write review, enter all the details and submit it. People need to reach at their destination on time. Allowing to use media files to report a violation will give citizen an option to still do their duty and report even if they are in hurry when the violation was observed.

Worst app. If someone is violating red light or doing rash driving, then i can only get seconds of time. In that time they expect me to click photo, type vehicle no., location, time, date etc etc. do you really think this can be possible?

So if we spot a traffic violation like someone driving dangerously, polluting etc... We open this app and click Report a violation. Click on take picture, then give GPS permission, enter their vehicle number, date and time. Why can't you let me attach a photo I clicked on my phone camera which is faster to access. Has GPS, date and time in metadata. I'm pretty sure no one would've managed to report a single traffic violation on this trash app.

This app crashes. Even after multiple tries didn't receive OTP to log in. As expected, incompetent service

Firstly, app is really slow and if it opens on time by the time I am about to click the Pic then camera doesn't work (permission needed when all the permissions are allowed). Secondly, if camera opens then quality of video or picture is not good. Numer plate is not clearly visible. Request the designing team to kindly fix these minor bugs.

Basic app needs improvement 1. No parking violation should be added 2. No entry for commercial vehicles should be added 3. Very slow and many unable to upload images/data
