How to play the backgammon game

- Classic backgammon is a logic puzzle for two, played on a board of 24 triangles. These triangles are called points.
- Each player sits on the opposite sides of the board with 15 checkers, black or white.
- To start the game, players take turns and roll the dice. That’s why free backgammon is often called a dice game.
- Players move pieces based on the numbers rolled. For example, if you roll 2 and 5, you can move one piece 2 points and another one 5 points. Alternatively, you can move one piece 7 points.
- Once all of a player’s pieces are in his or her “home”, that player may begin removing pieces off of the backgammon board.
- A player wins once all of their pieces are removed from the board

A few more things to know about this free Backgammon game

- Rolling two of the same number allows you to move 4 times. For example, for a roll of 4 and 4, you can move a total of 16 points, although each piece must move 4 points at a time.
- You cannot move a piece to a point that is occupied by 2 or more of your opponent’s pieces while playing a backgammon game.
- If you move a piece to a point with only 1 of your opponent’s pieces on it, the rival’s piece is removed from the board and placed on the middle partition.

I understand that adds are necessary to pay the bills but this is ridiculous. Double add when starting a match, double add somewhere mid-match, double add at the end of a match. O, I forgot, another double add when you launch the app before even clicking a single thing. Just asinine. I spend more time watching adds than playing matches.

update: the last few times I've played, the computer has won all 3 rounds, rolled multiple doubles in high digits while giving me 1's and 2's. There's no way it's always random. I just played 9 games, the computer won 6 in a row, when we're close to getting all tokens in our "dock" the computer rolls doubles almost constantly, while I'll get a 1 and 2 roll three times in a row, such a cheat. I'm really unhappy, I paid to remove ads, and I'm just getting mad instead of relaxing.

Two issues: 1. The opponent gets slightly more (51%) doubles than the player(49%) observed over ~3k games, and most importantly frequently gets them when you get all your checkers onto your home board. It's like clockwork. 2. The ads are getting more frequent and longer in duration- some are up to 90 seconds. Usually they are 30s every few minutes of gameplay (which is still excessive). Suggestions: 1. Fix the opponent double/homeboard issue. 2. Change the RNG. 3. Reduce ad frequency

Update 4/10/2025: fellows, things got much better, but I read of improvements you've done that I don't have, and now I have a problem: inadvertently, I erased the app icon and I can't replace it, unless I delete and reinstall... but I have a lot of games and trophies accomplished, and I'm afraid I will lose them if I do that! And also, now I can't play, because the game won't start, not even from the Play Games App! I click start and it takes me to a blank page! HELP!

Fun to play, but way too limited. Lots of double 6s at the end of the game for the computer. Easy to beat virtually all of the time without them. I'd say I win more than 80% of the time. Computer plays same moves all of the time, always accepts cube when both you and it are bearing off. Computer never plays good defense and virtually never covers the 7 point.

I love playing Backgammon, it reminds me of the old days. But recently the app keeps getting a lot of ads in the middle of my game what is up with all the interpretations? Please stop all the interpretation in the middle of my game. Then I'll give it 5 stars. Update, I've continued to play as said I enjoy playing the game. I notice that when I through doubles then my opponent throughs doubles. Also, the opponent is the only one able to challenge. I do not have that opportunity.

It's free! Clean board design. I play very often. The ads are no different than any other free app. Long and run after every game. The annoying thing is that sometimes I can guess what the next roll will be because, at time's there are game patterns. Also, the 1, 2 numbers at times will be the only roll I get 4 to 5 times in a row while the computer opponent gets frequent rolls of doubles on the difficult level. I will end the game and start over only to get the same patterns.

Great interface. I appreciate the ability to play the game offline. The challenges are great, exercising my mind. But the computer makes illogical moves. Ie if there are 2 pieces left, in positions 1 and 2. If it rolls a 1 and a 2, it should take both off. Instead, it moves piece in position 2 to position 1, then takes it off. It often ignores my exposed pieces when it would be better for them to take it. I also win about 90% of games, and the difficulty has not increased the more I play.
