Truly Personalized
Unlike most running apps, VDOT knows you. It understands the type of runner you are, what you're training for, and how to maximize your efforts. It also gives you more control over your training, leveraging your feedback to deliver real-time data which fine tunes your training and leads to continuous progression. With fully automated, truly personalized and highly-adaptive training, VDOT helps you achieve measurable improvement — all in an effort to make you the best runner you can be.
Intelligent Training
With a focus on training over tracking and coaching over running, VDOT offers access to the highest quality, Olympic-style training for runners of all levels-right from any mobile device. Designed to help runners train correctly and more intelligently, VDOT elicits maximum benefit while reducing the required effort. These high-quality workouts promote healthy, responsible, and beneficial sessions while simultaneously preventing overtraining.
Olympic Pedigree
V.O2 was built from the foundation of a scientifically-validated training methodology. Based on former Olympian, author, and legendary running coach Jack Daniels’ exercise science principles, the methodology not only benefits runners of all ages and abilities when it comes to improving their running fitness but it also serves as the best measure of running economy across a variety of runners and events, making it an ideal way to compare performances. High-school, college, Olympic and non-elite runners have all trained, ran, and succeeded with the VDOT methodology.
-”Dr. Jack Daniels has had a bigger influence on training-for-running than anyone. He might be considered the Albert Einstein of the sport." - Runner’s World Magazine

Pretty solid "coaching" for what it is. Really enjoying the app. The VDOT level has pretty accurate pacing but I'd like to see a way (maybe there is and I haven't figured it out) to tell it that the paces are good for some runs but not for others (i.e., my interval style work is good but my long runs are too hard etc.). Would recommend.

Downloaded the app by accident but it looked nice so I decided to give it a try - but the app was bad. They make you sign up for the free trial before the sign up flow completes, you don't even know what you are getting. Then, the app crashed repeatedly when I tried to choose my birthday. I had to enter a fake birthday to continue. After I finally got in the app, it asked me to upgrade to premium and get a coach. I was unable to find any automatically generated training plan.

The Adaptive version is like having a 24/7 coach. I have been using this app for a few weeks and it's perfectly customizable. It schedules per my needs and I can swap workouts or shift dates as needed. I initially signed up for the marathon training plan but the adaptive version is so much more comprehensible to me. I wish it allowed syncing the workouts ahead of time rather than when I start the activity (since I don't always have my phone with me).

The app works ok, but it is not adaptive enough, and it keeps asking me what my upcoming race is, already logged it two times. the web version does not fully synch with the app version of the calendar. if you miss your run or adjust it, it had no impact on the planned volume.

I love how quick it is to write to your Garmin training calendar and how it puts in all the required metadata (target paces etc...). I've subscribed and hope to see great value from this. It's a very interesting approach to structured training and based on the book it's great having a digital solution. Nice clean app.

So far so good. In the short time that I've been using training part of the app, I've been able to see an improvement in my overall fitness. The workouts are varied and adapt quite easily to any changes I have to make in my schedule. The monitoring of your paces keeps you in line prevents you from over training. It's a process but looking forward to the end result.

Hi, so I've been using this app since 3 days but facing a lot of issues. The app just doesn't open. It's just a black screen. It requires multiple attempts for the app to load. I keep the website also open and the app occassionally works. Not sure if it's linked to website being open. Also the videos do not load well on the website. Would request some guidance to sort this

probably the best adaptive training app I've found, and one of my best app subscriptions in general. really easy to use and customise my preferences, and the vdot <-> Garmin sync just *works*. all I need to do is start my watch & it has the vdot workout preloaded, and when I'm done, everything is synced back automatically. no complaints at all so far and worth my money!
