Very simple to use! I have just downloaded the app to my Samsung S10, and admittedly have only played with it (not used in real world), but seems incredibly straightforward. I like the fact it suggests flight mode is enabled- reduce the risk of interruption during timing. The scanner works in portrait or landscape and the barcode does not need to be perfectly aligned. I might just volunteer for timing roles now, rather than avoiding it!!

Only used the timer on Saturday. Worked fine. Testing the scanner though I also found it scanned repeatedly until I figured out that it only does that when you have athlete and position barcodes in screen at the same time. It will also only scan a position if it has just scanned an athlete code. Enforces the no barcode no result rule. Screen timeout is an issue, but the phone has settings I'm sure. Be nice if the app took care of that.

Used for the first time yesterday and it worked a treat. Much easier than the old barcode scanners. No problems getting anything to scan: paper, wristbands, smart watches etc... Real shame some folk are having problems, must be frustrating. But don't assume you'll have problems - just download it and test at home on your own barcode.

Just doesn't work on my phone which has a perfectly decent camera for taking photos and is only a couple of years old. I've tried it on my son's very cheap Motorola phone (which is only just bought) and it works perfectly. More testing needed parkrun with lots of different phones - this is going to be a nightmare to get our volunteers using otherwise!

QR code fail for Moto G9 play. My old Samsung A41 works fine with scanning barcodes in portrait, picks them up everytime. Moto G9 play only scans about 2/3 of the time and you have to turn the phone to landscape to make it work. Didn't open the camera when we tried to scan the QR code, so wouldn't scan it. Had to take screenshot of the results page by page to submit. Manageable for a small junior parkrun but would have been a lot of work for a results processing at a bigger parkrun.

In short, a simple, well designed and easy to use app. A positive experience. No negatives. My first volunteering experience since before covid, so this was new for me. Extremely easy to set and use for timing. Scanned the QR code with no difficulty. Scanned my own barcode easily at home, but don't know how this will work in the field.

Just used for scanning for the first and it was brilliant. Really reassuring the way the data stays there if you come out if the app or even reboot your phone. Great how it scanned person same position at the same time. Had a bit of a wobble where it was like the camera auto zoom had frozen but going out of the scan screen to the main one and back in seemed to wake it up. No battery issues either.

The timekeeper function doesn't just register when you hit the stopwatch button but registers a click from anywhere on the bottom half of the screen. If you hold your phone by the edges (which everyone does), you run the risk of counting multiple fantom runners, especially when you're wearing mittens or gloves. It should give us a safe border on the edges of the screen. That would save a lot of time for the run director and the timekeeper when they have to clean up the results after a run.
