Crowd sourced research for science matters, making this a great app... that said, as an app it is less then sterling. The most glaring "missing" or "broken" aspects are: (1) that the notifications are useless, no ability to click one to see which image it is talking about and that the number of them seems unrelated to reality (I get hundreds more than I have pictures taken); (2) an "delay uploads of reports until next connected to wifi"; (3) that videos seem to never be accepted or rejected; (4) that jpg files are stored in DCIM rather than a subfolder; (5) I so far have not figured out where videos are stored, seems like with Camera they should be in the same location as the jpg files.

Just installed tonight so the jury is still out but I'm confused already. I thought a good place to start was with my profile. I selected edit, and tried to add a pix, like a profile pix, it let me choose it but won't upload it. Not a good start! Hopefully the functionality of the app will improve tomorrow when I'm out running errands and perhaps finding opportunities to add pictures of the little guys! Stars will be added when things improve!

App is a bit clunky but they're working on it (it's a research project and I applaud the effort). App developer is responsive to emails. One potential improvement would be to use EXIF data or photo geotags to place images on the map. Right now it appears they post where uploaded, not where captured. Another idea might be use a heatmap to display sighting frequency and overlay markers at a closer zoom level.

I was pretty excited to see sightings popping up in my area so I went out looking. Read all the instructions about how to take photos and videos. The directions weren't super clear, but I figured it out. Rather than use my cell data to take photos in the app I took pics and then planned to upload them at home. Sadly, nothing will upload because it says there is no geotag. This was not in the instructions and there is definitely a geotag attached. So...big bummer for me.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having trouble with the app. It worked perfectly the first few days. I had over 100 photos though many sat in pending, although notifications said approved. Then a few days ago, I could not submit my photos from my camera of photos I had taken and still am not able to. I've uninstalled and reinstalled this app many times. I see that others are working, because my ranking just continues to go down. It's no fun to play when the app isn't working correctly.

Useless app, I'm uninstalling this app within only 5 minutes of downloading it. It makes you sign in every time you open it. Then, whatever you try to open in the app, it crashes. Wish I knew where the cicadas were in my area. I'll be in the lookout for a different app, not this one though. I guess some people don't know how to program properly!! 🙄🙄

I love all the info included in the app. I had no idea how many species of cicadas there are or that some are 13 year. The app seems to be running more smoothly since the last update. It would be helpful if the declined pics were available to be viewed so we could see more specifically what you don't want. Also, even though I've had over 800 pics approved, none of the 21 videos I've submitted appear to have been reviewed. Are you not accepting vids? User "Agent Smith."

I loaded my first photo of a cicada three days ago and it's still pending. I received an email to verify my account, but when I responded, the website gave no response. I'm legitimate, but this app thinks I'm not! Not very happy at all, since there is no link to troubleshoot issues. ...And I love cicadas!!!!!!
