The Play Store description of this app states that a word can be searched by pressing the "Lookup" button after selecting the word. Regrettably, this feature currently does not work. The "Lookup" button is not visible after selecting a word. This could be due to restrictions imposed by Android 14. Additionally, this app is in need of a significant update, that is, if it is still being supported.

No other Android dictionary has the practicality features of this app. Most useful being that it's an unobtrusive popup with features on its placement and dark mode (easily the best of all popup dictionaries), can use various dictionary sources (and multiple, navigated with tabs on the popup), there is a Word of the Day, all looked up words can be saved and the developer has actively developed the app. These are all strong "buy" signals, and no other dictionary offers these features.

As soon as I saw how effective the free version was, I immediately bought the paid version. I love the minimalist aesthetic, the AMOLED option, the many plugins (including Urban Dictionary!), and the fact that it so quickly & simply makes itself available. Even pitting it against other similar apps, Look Up stands out. This is an app I know I'll make a point to install on every device I own. Well done, dev! 👏👑

Constantly turns its own service off, one where you select if it can display over other apps. You turn on in the app, but then when you need it it doesn't work. And then you check in the app and somehow it's off again. I checked batteries already as unlimited can run in the background all that. It's just an annoying thing I think there's a better version on F Droid

Update: 10/22/19 still no fix. Copying a word still does not trigger the pop-up, rendering the app completely useless. Pop-up on copy no longer works. No tweaking of notification settings or reinstalling gets it to work again, making this app virtually useless. I loved this app and wish this issue would be fixed or at the very least addressed. I messaged the developer and unfortunately haven't heard anything back in weeks.

Coming from being an apple fanboy, even though I still use Apple computers I've been an avid Android user since the Samsung Galaxy S4. Soon after that, I got a Note 3 and have been using the latest Note ever since. Said all that to say that I'm used to being able to highlight text and search for the meaning of a word as I read from OX S & Mac OS. This app lets me do the same thing on Android, very conveniently as an overlay, without ever leaving or shifting away from what you're doing. Definitely a must-have for readers and productivity enthusiasts.

Edit: Reasonable answer! Perhaps you could include it as a warning when users try to disable WordNet as a source? Either way, thanks in advance for including the option! This app does exactly what it says, flawlessly compared to other similar apps I've tried in the past. This app is now even better with alternatives sources, dark theme for Google and re-orderable Tabs! With Tabs, it's much better as all the definitions aren't clumped together.

The idea of the app is great. However, I would like to be able to select all the looked up words at once and share them with anki for example, for now a single selection of words is possible. Also drive sync is not working. Another great feature would be implementing a flashcard with looked up words.
