Operation error, I signed up on their website on PC some weeks ago and every time since, I have faced an error saying I cannot log in on this server, no matter which browser I use. That's fine, I try to use the app. I have never been able to log in on the app, I keep getting operation failure errors. Not sure if the app works on Japanese phones but it sure doesn't work on foreign phones which is its main audience

I really wanted to use the app which promises good options for selecting seats and booking. But it has been several days of being under maintenance, which are clearly outside the published maintenance time frames. Sad to have to say this is the worst public transport app from arguably one of the best known train services in the world. The irony.

Unlike most here, i found this app quite useful and made my life easy organising shinkasen tickets on the go. Only issue i had was verifying my non japanese mastercard that failed initially, but i then used another mastercard I had, and that worked. I retried the original one that fail and that worked the second time. After that, everything was straight forward and no issues, and i even assigned my suica cards to each ticket for family, so it was a simple tap and go process for all of us.

Randomly stops working during busy times when you urgently need it to get on the train. If you want to use this, MAKE SURE TO SCREENSHOT/PRINT YOUR QR CODE IN ADVANCE, because if not, there is a good chance the app will fail right as you are trying to get through the ticket gate.

Don't use this app, it's dangerous. I signed up, selected my tickets, and then left the app without purchasing. When I tried logging in later to purchase my tickets again, my account was locked. I called the specified phone number to try to get my account unlocked, and they told me that they can't unlock overseas accounts. They have to wait for the system to unlock the account and notify me by closing my account. Absolutely useless and foreigner unfriendly.

The entire system for this is horrible, if you enter your details and somehow locked you account, they delete your account and you can't register again with the same details for a month. And please be aware your name on account and name on app need to match CASE SENSITIVE.

Save your sanity, don't use this. I tried to buy tickets from Tokyo to Osaka. My 2 credit cards were rejected while my debit card was accepted. I tried to login only to be hit with an error message of "You can't use Membership ID you have entered. Your ID might be temporary suspended. If you have any question, please call us at the follow number." The number isnt a toll free. So, I had to buy Skype credit to call the office in Japan. I was told the account was deleted and I was given a refund.

It's a handy app for skipping the long queue at train station to buy Sinkansen tickets. Designated the purchased tickets to IC cards making it super easy to travel. It's may not work on your roaming data, fortunately all the JR stations provide free WiFi.
