Easy to use, very fast, and supports complex searching if you want it. The definitions are accurate and succinct. The pronunciations are clear and helpful. If you copy a word from another app, or your own writing, then open chambers, it will immediately look it up for you. Of course, it works offline. A reliable, trustworthy and fast dictionary app.

The best dictionary I've ever used as a student of literature. It contains many old, archaic words that you can encounter in old works of literature and can't find them in other dictionaries nowadays. The definitions are short, quick and easy to understand. My only problems are the lack of voiced pronunciation, and the fact that you need a separate thesaurus app to look up synonyms. Chambers dictionary and thesaurus should be one app. Other than that, excellent app to use alongside wordweb.

Shorter OED contains twice as many words (they say) but does not even have the widely used 'beefcake'. So, Chambers, crossword puzzlers favourite, I'm going with you. Simple interface and the X-ref function is very nice. I don't need usage examples in a dictionary so your lack of them isn't an issue for me, but may be for others. Better etymology would be great, but not essential.

This is my favorite British English dictionary app. It is especially helpful to me as an American when reading books from the UK. It has a great feature to help find answers for crossword puzzles when you only know a few letters. In addition to the dictionary, I highly recommend the Chambers thesaurus app. They are a wonderful word pair well worth the cost!

Both the dictionary and app are outstanding! The app has a good design for being called by other apps or being used by itself. I'm also pleased that there are few unnecessary features.

I'm sure it's me, but I find the Chambers Dict and Thesaurus (both Pro) almost impossible to navigate without Wordweb - which is fine I suppose but everything falls apart when I need to search from online editors - which is most of the time. Integration with Twitter is good but other apps are persnickety.

Really hate the new app icon - old one I recognised at a glance and it looked good; new one I have to focus on it to think what it is, and it's dull, dull, dull. Old one is fine within the app icon guidelines as long as you keep it within the clipping mask bounds with a clippable background. Please re-think: this new icon just makes the app disappear into my home screen, it's so non-distinctive especially given the 5 other apps I have which are mainly just red backgrounds, but they actually have something distinctive to a glance on the backgrounds which yours does not, but the previous icon with the angled view of a book did. Truly terrible decision to change. Makes me wish i hadn't paid, if you are going to stick with this awful app icon. Taking off the five stars I'd give with the old icon. May well come back adn take off another star or two.

For several decades, the Chambers 20th Century Dictionary was the favourite in our home. It had the easiest phonetics guide of any dictionary and provided excellent etymological information. The app version is very good - would be even better with audio pronunciation.
