The android version of this app would not let me connect a new smart socket no matter what I tried. I switched over to an ios version and it worked perfectly. An update after using for a few weeks. Today, I noticed that the socket did not change automatically with the clocks going back one hour. I went into the app to see if I could adjust the timer I had set up and was met with a "web page not available error" within the app. This app is not fit for purpose.

A little hard to get the WiFi setup initially, bear with it it will usually connect. The time settings are clear and the 2units I have it setup on work just great. Update- not good news, i have recently updated my Talktalk service and its stopped the smartplugs from working. They work on a 2.4g band and my router is now split with a 5g band as well. I'm still trying to get them to work but its ongoing at the moment, i'll let you know when its/if its sorted.

A frustrating experience. Socket fitted ok onto the back box. But trying to connect to the app is a nightmare. Try as I might it will not pair. Even in ap mode I had the same problem. Spent 2 wasted hours on trying to connect to the app, so I will be sending back the double socket for a refund. You have been warned.

Terrible app, terrible lights. I've had these down lights a while and gave up connecting them to the internet as they'd bring my virgin router down within a few hours. Now, years later, I've got an Amazon Eero router, and I thought I'd give them a try again. Absolute garbage. They're all in different connecting modes and repeatedly fail to connect via AP mode or smart mode. Avoid at all costs.

Keeps switching to chinese and unable to operate switches. Update: Brushed off by support and the issue has been there for over 2 years. They clearly have no intention of fixing. I'd stay clear of BG Home products. The "remedy" that was provided by support was to reinstall everything from scratch which isn't a practical remedy at all. If the issue is a bug in your software then a ticket should have been raised to fix not brushed aside and told to reinstall everything.

When you set up the app and create an account they want to know you country county and city. For some reason to add a socket they need access to your precise location, and not just enabling location to access the WiFi. Linking the app to Alexa through the app brings up a 404 error page so you have to do it through the Alexa app. There are many bugs in the app like the update device firmware box keeps flashing on the screen and even after you have updated it. It's not the best but it works.

Had this app for 3 years now for an outside socket to my water feature, and every spring its always impossibly difficult to set up and connect to the router, 3 hours so far, no joy, was working fine when I closed it down for winter. I hate it, it is so stressful. I didn't choose this, my electrician did, to make my life easier!

Following the app's options to connect to a power socket, EVERY step leads you to a dead end. The blue flashing lights are 'solid' on 2 out of 3 sockets, which according to the electrician, indicates they are connected. - They cannot be seen in the app. So, tried the other options to connect to the wifi of the socket itself... the app then instructs you to connect to BG HOME XXXX wifi which does not exist. No forgot password option either! Get 1 * 'cos 0 not available.
