Just received my Ultra Helmet and firefly mini lights. They are well made and appear to be high quality. However the app is horrible. I just ordered these and it is saying that I need to update firmware? Why wouldn't they come with the latest firmware? Even worse, the app does not update the firmware on the helmet or the lights. Also, I cannot assign any functions to the lights and cannot sinc the helmut and remote lite to the firefly minis.

The helmet and its design are great, with the exceptions being the 'docking' ports when charging both the device and the Remote. Very poor design there, as well as the inability to turn OFF the beeping when turning the helmet on/off. Again, missed opportunity to make the helmet great. The app needs MAJOR work and doesn't update the firmware. You would think with the high cost of the helmet, they could invest in getting something so basic like an app to work correctly. It's 2019 after all!

App doesn't work. It keeps freezing up and that's whether or not it's able to connect to my devices. I tried rebooting my phone, reinstalling the app, nothing works. I hope these issues get resolved soon. Update, 9/6/2023: the app is still extremely slow, when it's not freezing up. I'm starting to regret my purchase.

Useless App. I deleted it. App keeps telling me to upgrade the firmware, but fails. Suggested manual method fails to. Says you have to be connected to the helmet, then push the on button while plugging in power, the white light on the front???? of the helmet will flash orange (the rear ones do) and it will automatically update but pushing the power button disconnects the helmet from the app so there's no way the helmet can get upgraded. App says my phone is compatible. App is pure trash!

I only got my Fireflys (4) yesterday, and I'm hating them already. Horrible app! I can't get the light patterns the way I want them, can't get them to stay paired to the turn signal remote, can't sync my helmet, videos are absolutely useless. I don't care what these things cost, one more day and they're going into the lake behind my house. 😡

Useless app! It once was able to connect and upload the firmware. But now after many, many tries and several app versions, it still will not connect and upload the latest firmware. Each time I have tried it turns off the helmet and then promptly fails the upload due to device disconnected. After several attempts to contact support, they have been overwhelming unhelpful in resolving this problem. Thankfully the helmet still has my prior settings and I will not use the app any further.

This review is intended as constructive feedback for the developers. The helmet itself is fantastic, but the app needs some more work to be useful (at least to me). For me the main benefit of the app would be automatic notification that the helmet and/or remote need recharging. I consider this a primary safety feature, since a lighted helmet with a dead battery is no better than a regular helmet. I am using a Nexus 5 phone running Android 6.0.1, and app version 2.3.4. With this combination, the tracking of helmet battery level only works if 1) the Lumos app has access to location information, and 2) ride tracking is active within the app. This would not be a problem, except that with location access enabled the Lumos application eats my phone battery - it reduces usable battery life from around 2 days down to less than 8 hours (which is impractical for me). And this is using Android's "battery saving" option for location tracking. To be clear, unless the Lumos app has access to the phone's location tracking and is actively tracking the current ride, the helmet and remote battery statuses are not getting updated (meaning no low battery notifications). Needs fixed I think.

Turn signal beeps too frequent. They used to have the beep every 8 seconds which was not too annoying and kept me from forgetting it was on. Now with the update it beeps every second - which is super annoying and draws lots of attention from people nearby. So now I don't even want to use it.
