been using this app for almost two years now.. very useful. i can do lots of things like add marker, record tracks, measure bearings and distance from one marker to another. i can also choose my dwsiref base layers and map overlays. Most importantly, i can save and print specific map with my desired scaling, gridlines and a lot more.. it is, indeed very useful and easy to use. i have one wish, though..-- updated map..

I use Caltopo frequently for tracking hikes and planning on a PC. I mostly really like it because I'm comfortable with maps but it is missing trailhead names, so for recreation using other sources for reference, I'll confirm the coordinates if unfamiliar with the area. Please add support for 24h time format, like when adding a marker it uses am/pm format in the default name even though my phone (and PC too) is set to display 24h clock.

great app. but... Flat out refuses to load internet-based mapsets that I've created the links for. They load on the browser-based version but not on the Android app. Other than that, the cooperative mapping and group situational awareness is incredible.

I have used many other mapping programs, and they are good for different reasons. CalTopo while not the fastest for finding well traveled and well reviewd routes, it is the best for creating your own. I always find myself coming back to CalTopo. Mobile route creation is not my preferred method, I like to see Tha massive amount of information on the bigger screen of my PC and then let it seamlessly transfer to my mobile device for field access. It is my #1 mapping tool, it is not just an app.

This is a top notch maping program. One of the best for SAR missions, and very good for personal use. Don't mess around, just get it, learn it, and don't worry about the others.

Porting something as complex as CalTopo from a browser to an app would be hard, and they did a good job with it. It's very easy to reference your existing maps and routes.
