Was barred from using the app. When my credit card expired. No explanation, No information, No request to update card within the app. Just a block till I queried the support line. For a company the size of Seven West Media, you should be seriously looking at who you employ to design your apps.

I have 7 news paper apps This is the worst by far. I have around 100 apps I use regularly. The West is the worst. And they charge for it. Disgraceful. I would cancel my subscription however in WA we are generally ignored by the substantial news providers so we have to put up with The West monopoly. It is slow and it is unreliable to log in. Dreadful app. If I could give it less than 1 star I would.

The app is ok. Journalism is pretty good. Best coverage of Perth and Western Australia. However I keep getting notifications about topics I'm not interested in (sport and crime) even though I have Sports notifications turned off. Have just turned off Breaking News notifications hoping that helps. There's no option to turn crime stories off even though the app clearly marks heaps of stories with that category. I don't think crimes are 'news' unless statistically significant per capita.

This is an extremely frustrating app. When I click on a story in the news tab, it takes a very long time to load, and most times loads a completely different story to the one I've clicked on. Then once I've read the story, I click on the back arrow and it takes me to further reading rather than back to the home page. I then click on the back arrow again to try to get to the home page and it logs me out of the app. No other news app does this. Very frustrating 😤

1 Star is far too generous for this rubbish West Australian news app. The only thing that was perfect and didn't need to be touched was the digital version of the paper. They have completely destroyed it and they say they can't give a menu option to go straight to the back cover of the paper. Instead there are two Sport menu options and the second one takes you in the middle of the Sport section and you have to swipe about 5 pages across to find the Sport Cover. Absolute joke and out of touch.

Worst App on my phone!!! So bad. Always has trouble loading, when it does it can't update to the most recent edition. Takes multiple attempts to download a single edition, even when it says downloaded and you attempt to read it, it starts downloading again.. That's if the app opens at all. It takes multiple phone restarts to get it to work. Absolute piece of junk. They should fire the developers and ask for a refund. The old app worked much, much, much better. I'd give half a star if I could.

When one pays a subscription, one expects for it to be an ad-free experience. Not The West! The app is still chockers full of ads, full of links to Tarcoola from the web links and the like. I paid $38 per month for access including Saturday's and Sunday's papers. I won't be renewing but will instead go back to buying the paper in my local newsagent. If it wasn't for the ads I would give the ap a higher rating, as the digital version of the newspaper is indeed a great feature.
A Google user
The old app was useful to catch up on WA news later on the day or when outdide the state. It was often slow to get current news posted and kept some out of date news items. I like to read the paper and use the app. I dont want to read the paper online now we dont have a choice. I suppose the ABC news app will have to be the one. Bias is an issue.
