after using the updated app for over a year, the UI is still light-years better than before but there are still issues. The notifications are shaky at best. I almost never get notified when my smoker is up to temp or when the meat thermometers are nearing or met their set thresholds. The widget is a complete joke. They opted for one that gives you "cook stats" (why?) as opposed to one that did anything useful such as the pit and probe temps which is an absolutely mindboggling decision

love all the notifications, pretty cool features. Since the recent update the app does not connect when the grill is running regardless if it's connected to the wifi. Even re pairing only works for 1 cooking session and it will not connect more than it does. Edit 11/5/24: They still haven't fixed the problem, light on the grill shows connected. Phone is connected to the same wifi... still shows grill as off. Please fix this, or why would we be paying a premium for wifi support?

Works well just needs a few fixes. In its current state, I'd give it 2.5 Stars. Everything for the most part works fine in this app except for the guided Cooks. For whatever reason, when I try a guided cook, it doesn't recognize my temperature probe even though it's clearly plugged in and functioning. It will not allow you to select which probe you're using and it doesn't even give you the option to select a probe even though the app clearly reads it. Outside of that, everything works.

Changing review from 5 stars to 1. I have 2 rectec 1100 smokers, and an older 340. After last update, no longer able to run the smoker wirelessly is a deal breaker. If I need to be standing in front of grill to operate it, I'll get a real smoker instead of these "easy bake ovens". The only real benefit of these brands was convenience and ease of use. Without that functionality, I see no use in accepting less smoke for the same hassle. I have 3 rectec grills and will no longer support the brand.

Horrible app. Notifications dont work. Tonight, the app informed me an hour after my grill was done preheating that its done preheating. Then, I overshot the set probe temp my 10 degrees. Also, Ive noticed that now you must push and hold the off button to send the power off command. When did that change? Ive uninstalled the app. If I cant use it to turn on the grill, monitor temps, and easily turn it off, its useless.

Doesn't even work. 1. When connecting my grill, this app can't find my wifi, which I am currently connected to. 2. I don't want to join your social media grill master thing, but there's no way to opt out. 3. You don't need to know my location. 4. There's no need to sign in or have a personalized account. If we're connected to the same wifi, I should be able to add it Good way to take a great product and downgrade it with bad tech

The app has come a long way over the past couple of years. One thing it desperately needs is an alarm style alert. I. E., instead of just going ding! or bzzt like most alerts for messages and what not, it should keep sounding/buzzing like an alarm clock until you dismiss it. It's too easy to miss alerts (or sleep through them, since many cooks go through the night).

Notifications so-so I wish you could pick which notifications make a noise. But it's all or none. Something is not right with it. Had to turn them off. Ding, ding, ding every few minutes to tell me my food is almost ready....I just wanna know when it is ready. Still glitchy...error messages, too many processes... I gotta close it, open it and start over to clear it out. Temp chart hardly logs more than an hour. Love the grill though. Update: Notifications are still iffy at best. Very unreliable
