Best TTS reader I've found! I rarely write reviews, but this app does what I need it to do well it deserves extra attention. If you need audio to read along with screen text this app is for you. I use cere voices to change up the sound and make it sound more natural. You can train pronunciation, adjust speed, and it remembers your spot. I mostly use this to read old books that don't have audiobooks available.

Once you get the right voice, this app is a very nice read along companion that has no limits to what you can have read to you. It's quite a nice app. You can open up quite the number of settings including a pronunciation guide for the reader. The interface is a little complicated, but you can learn it rather quickly. One thing that I would really like fixed is that sometimes when a character stutters as in, "T-That's not true!" the reader will pronounce the "T" instead of blending it.

My most used app, and also the only app I've ever donated money to. I have gotten so much out of this free app (hence the donation). I love that I can seamlessly switch between reading and being read to. It makes getting things done so much more pleasant, as I don't have to interrupt my book to, say, hang laundry. When I'm not doing another task, I can switch from audio back right back to reading, unlike traditional audiobooks. I really can't praise this highly enough.

Evie is pretty good, not perfect. I found a Google voice that's fairly natural. The text conversion/extraction is good, sometimes a few errors, not a deal breaker. Better overall than my Kindle tablet text to voice conversion that only works for Kindle books with text to voice option. One thing though is I had to turn off the notifications. The same non-essential notification kept popping up. I'm happy I can listen to books and articles my Kindle doesn't read.

The best. My only suggestion would be better text formatting, perhaps? Ability to texts beginning with numbers to avoid having to listen to indices and footnotes being read aloud. And maybe a widget would be nice. No complaints, though. These are secondary suggestions.

I've been using evie for a long time and it's absolutely amazing. Can't tell you how much time ive spent on this thing, but it's a lot. My only problem with it is that when i go to preferences and click background sounds it takes me to a list of all the sounds i can play while listening to the books I've downloaded but i have to login to purchase any of them, when i did go and create an account to log in, i click back on the sound packs it always says it fails to load for me.

This app is fantastic and very customizable, exactly what I needed for my insane book backlog. Kudos to the devs. I have one note - I noticed the playback would stop after 5 or so lines one day and I tried EVERYTHING in the FAQ of the website. Nothing worked. Because I have an AT&T phone, OS updates are pushed on me without option, so I've been keeping my phone storage full to stop the auto updates. Apparently this stopped Evie from working until I cleared a few gigs. Pls add this to the FAQ

Love it! Would like integrated player controls. When I'm listening to a book, I found that there aren't play/pause/RR/FF media controls available on the lock screen (and consequently in my car.) The your phone has to be unlocked and the app opened to pause or play. Other than that inconvenience, fantastic app!
