As a runner, this is a great app for custom routes. However, it falls short on the GPS and live running instructions, it struggles to show your live position, tells you to take turns after the turning or forgets altogether. Sometimes it places you in a random field or decides the run is done and now to go back the way you just came, very confusing and frustrating. Its a shame, there is plenty of room for competition and all it takes is for someone to make an app which improves upon this.

Very occasionally you come across a special app in Google Play, and Trail Router is certainly one of those, so simple to use, with so many options, whether you are walking, running, cycling etc., it shows so many options that you may not have known about, it takes your current location and generates routes, so wherever you are in the world! It really is a very clever piece of technology, which deserves a lot of credit, in addition the developer is quick to answer any questions, in addition to the app, there is the online version too!

Finally found an app that will randomly generate me a walking route. Without having to pay anything, and no annoying adds. I just wanted to be able to put in a 5 mile round walk and it give me a route from my starting point. I tried all the big name apps like mapmywalk and alltrails, but they didn't have a randomly generate route option, only other users' routes or routes I'd already walked within the app. Super annoying. So glad I've found this! Thankyou!

+ best random trail router app for Android + ad-supported but not utterly nagging + options to tune the routing algo by specifying % greenery and % hills (= how steep the routes can be) = turn by turn navigation isn't working great, but thanks to "GPX open" option we can quickly import the route in other apps eg. Osmand - "Avoid repetition" option doesn't work at all for me - repetition happens by choosing a path twice in both directions, even if there are plenty of alternative paths around.

Beautifully simple. I got fed up with all the other trail apps that look like money grabs. This one is exactly what I was hoping for. Just search for a place and it shows you a handful of nearby trails with some minor elevation info. I can't begin to describe how happy I am to have found this app. I'm about 10 minutes into using it and have not yet been prompted (pestered) to make a purchase yet. Not sure how long that will last.

I use this to find new routes for running and walking. Don't use it for navigation, as I export and upload to my watch. Works great for what I need, good job 😄

Excellent app and website for finding and creating more scenic running routes in your area. Bonus: if you have a Garmin watch with course abilities, the Trail Router app can export a GPX file, that can be imported into Garmin Connect and synced to your watch. So can you can enjoy the routing functions straight from your watch. Also, very responsive developer!

I use my phone in my car as a sat nav so I know the GPS works fine. Using this app, the location is delayed, it gives instructions to turn when you have passed the turning, or no turning exists. On a 6 mile route the directions keep changing and sending me in a 1 mile circle and I never get to the rest of the route. Worse still is on my way home from the park, twice it directed me to go the wrong way on one-way streets. This app is inaccurate and dangerous.
