It'd be cool if it works, but you cannot rely on it. Our apartment put in SmartRent a while ago, and yeah I would like to be able to have a programmable thermostat and it is convenient to turn off lights from your phone if you forget while out. But it never stays working. This is the 5th or 6th time the thermostat is 'offline,' and I am tired of it. I never wanted to live with 'smart-home' tech to begin with and SmartRent has only solidified that opinion.

Non functional app that's completely useless, when I put in ANY command it does nothing then says 'This is taking longer than expected'. I spent over 1.5 hours with their tech support & they had me punch in some reset codes on my lock, after our third try my app started working! Less than 24 hours later it went back to non responsive. It's not a WiFi issue, the hub is plugged in directly to my modem. I can't even generate codes I have zero faith in this app and wish I had a PHYSICAL key

Non-functional since the latest update. 9/10 times it launches and spins for a while before claiming I'm offline with a "retry" button that does seemingly nothing. I'm literally on my WiFi, and everything else is online. This just refuses to connect, which is a problem given I use it to unlock the door. Good thing I saved my passcode elsewhere otherwise I'd have been locked out of my own home! Pixel 7 on Android 15.

Latest update fixed the issue of me not having control through the app on anything. HOWEVER, that didn't last long. It's once again starting to give me a message on anything I click on "This is taking longer than expected" and only let's me dismiss the message, then never does anything. It's frustrating because it's telling me a lock is open, and I try to lock it through the app, and it gives me the error, then still says it's unlocked. So now the whole point of the app is useless. IRRITATING.

Horrible app overall and the latest update made it worse. Very long latency, whenever I click a device there's a lag of several seconds before and further action/presses are recognized. Thermostat device in app is longer in sync with the actually thermostat and can't be controlled even after force quitting the app, clearing cache, and restarting the phone. Update: app performance is as bad ever. Constantly out of sync with smart lock and thermostat. Support articles don't populate either.

Update from one star to one star. I used to be able to go into the app and act like I'm changing the temperature but it wouldn't work. This update fixed that! By not even making it off the logo screen. Congrats you made your garbage worse. Checking in, still worthless garbage that makes me wish i had a key and dial on the wall.

More meaningless cosmetic changes for an app that STILL can't reliably change your thermostat or unlock your doors, or give you accurate readings for either. Even after years of bad reviews, failed troubleshooting, and unhelpful "support". Use your fake bot review budget on an Android developer. If your apartment uses this, move.

In April 2024 the SmartRent app worked about 40% of the time. Now in November 2024 the app only works about 20% of the time. Each time I do try using the app, I have to repeatedly input the command before the app will recognize my input...and then sometimes the app still goes silent. I only keep the app on my phone, because the app is linked to my apartment.
