No dark mode. So not great for people with sensitive eyes unfortunately. Wish it was more inclusive and modern in that regard. Edit after upgrading - the old version displayed articles, but he new one just stays blank white for me in most places. Useful as a torch, not so much for reading things. Better just use a plain old browser for that. Twenty first century and it's so hard to develop an app to show text, notifications, and support logging in. Really poor.

Beware, they auto renew with no notice, even with price increase, there is no online cancellation and they refuse any cancellations not made 10 days in advance of renewal. It's a quality news source, with an ok (but not great) app, but definitely not customer friendly.

Its a Scam. They renew your subscription without notification. The only way to prevent an auto renewal is to email them and hope they actually turn it off. No refunds once the funds are taken

The font size is tiny. There is no font adjustment option in the app. Customer Service say increase the font in phone settings. That doesn't work unless at highest level (which makes everything else on the phone look daft). Not acceptable for a paid service. Four alternative news sources that I know of have in app font adjustment option. Reported twice and doesn't seem to be a priority to fix. Deleted and using Chrome for now. Will cancel subscription if not fixed soon.

I've had it for a few years, but it's gotten much worse over the late year. I've been unable to use it as of 2 months and deleted it to reboot (thinking the problem was at my end - but now I can see from other reviews that I'm not the only one suffering the inadequacies of this app. A shame 😮💨

App is online only, won't work offline. Constantly being logged out of account for no reason. Worse, logging back in again won't use your Google account half of the time so you have to dig your password out. It's a shockingly poor app given this is 2024 and hardly reflects the standing of the Irish Times.

Doesn't work. No stories load. I've contacted support by email and got one unhelpful response and then silence. Useless and will not be renewing my subscription.

A huge downside of The Irish Times app is its lack of a search function. The paper itself is the best Irish-based newspaper available, in my opinion. It's therefore a pity the app is not better. However, in order to access the search function on my phone I must sign into the browser version. I may just stay signed in on the browser (if it allows me to) instead of using the app so as to get access to the search function. I echo the problems with email briefings not just bouncing me to a signed-in app. Without this function the email briefings are becoming irritating.
