This updated version is a retrograde step. The previous version had all the news on an easy to see layout. Importantly, it was updated in a single touch and then you could read it when you were away from network. The new one is designed for continuous on-line use only. Each section must be updated separately. and the navigation is fiddly. KEEP PREVIOUS VERSION IF YOU HAVE IT. I now have both of the versions on my phone. But there is no need for the new version.

Up until recently (last two weeks), I was happy with all the BBC apps I use - weather, sport, sounds. Now, something has changed. The apps either don't load or load and run so slowly that, unless I'm prepared to wait several minutes, I give up because nothing's happening. I've tried restarting the phone, eclearing the cache, clearing the storage, uninstalling and reinstalling the apps. Nothing seems to improve the situation. All other apps on my phone are fine. Only BBC apps are a problem.

As the years go by this product gets worse. Features have been neglected and removed over the years and now it is just a browser. I remember a time when the app had videos which played without problems, could be seen and maximised properly. Text and images could be zoomed in on. It would work offline, articles available as well as much of the media. Navigating was simply scrolling left and right, with easy to manage sections (saved to the phone). Looks pretty these days though

Come on BBC put it back to how it was! Navigation is awful since it was updated. Why haven't you put it back to how it was when we liked it? Come on team!! It's still awful since the update on the 8th just put it back to how it was) Who broke it? This used to be perfect and some bright spark decided to use taxpayer's money to ruin it. The layout is terrible and finding what you want near impossible. Also videos won't play in full screen mode which is extremely frustrating.

Still favourite app for news. But videos embedded in stories can not be opened full screen nor be shown in landscape mode, so autorotate does not work. This makes watching videos a very poor experience. The section dedicated to video items only, does auto expand to the full screen, but again, it will not autorotate into landscape viewing.

So much worse since the big update. The side swipe between articles always triggers when I try to scroll down an article, making it frustration to read anything. Also, some articles have embedded content which require side swipes (e.g. Instagram posts) which also trigger the side swipe to another article. Seems like a very easy thing to fix, but it's been like this for a long time now.

The user interface of this app has gone beyond stupid. First, we have to press an article twice to see it as the first press only takes you to its section form which you have to scroll to find and again select the article. Now, the selected article is moved to the top of its section after selection! It's sheer bedlam. BBC is not a tech company. Stick to best practices created by UX professionals in the tech industry

App works well most of the time but freezes and fails to load sometimes, enough to be pretty noticeable, but I've noticed BBC news seems to be actually quite one-sided with a lot of news stories, not silly fake news or things like that, but noticeably one-sided on certain news events. So i still use it, but not only it and not as much as i would in the past.
