A Google user

This app is quite useful if I do say so myself. The fact that it is free is great for a penny pincher like me. I like that there are a bunch of useful layers and I noticed that there is this new phone service availability added. It's cool being able to see where I would and wouldn't have service. I like using this to keep track of my hiking route and I enjoy checking where I am once in a while. Like a progress check for me on the app. It's pretty easy and straight forward to use.

Had some difficulty the first time I used it, so I emailed the developer. They responded very quickly and straightened out my issue. It appears that I had not fully downloaded the offline maps before leaving for my trip. Once I did that, it worked great. Definitely the best app I've used for offline exploration so far.

We got to the point where we were leaving pavement, I opened Outly. First, it wouldn't go past the "loading initial maps" window, probably because there was no cell service. Somehow it finally bypassed that first page so I went to the offline maps page. It wouldn't let me open any of the maps I had downloaded 2 weeks ago, it only told me they had to be updated. We were relying on those maps for our trip. Highly disappointed with the app.

So far seems really good. Looks like both wife and I are about to get full time remote jobs. Anyway you can add a feature that let's me 'star' an existing location, maybe add notes. I see I can create points but I want to star existing points, maybe add a quick note. Also maybe sharing, I haven't seen that yet. If I log on from another device would my notes, pins, etc sync assuming Internet connection. Everyone remember, pack in pack out, keep it clean.

Outly is good for doing some exploring without cell service, however, after creating a point and then trying to "share" that point with another device that has Outly installed, DOES NOT WORK! I've sent a feedback email to the support department several weeks ago, but no response. It's as if they have died. What's up guys?

I have tried to download this app a lot of times because I really want to use it. After each login it says it is downloading initial maps and never starts to load or does anything. It stays stuck on this every time. Even after closing all apps and rebooting my phone it still doesn't work. So sad and disappointed.

Tried this app out today on my motorcycle. Doesn't work well as a gps for following trails while riding. The blue dot that is your location moves but the screen doesn't so your constantly having to press the recenter button to keep your location current. Ran it for about 20 minutes and it used 50% of my Note 9's battery. Edit - 1/30/2020 the update fixed following location, battery usage seems improved also, 10 minutes of use used 6% battery...still high but much improved.

Selecting or dropping a pin is not accurate. Seems to be random. When tapping on Screen drop a gps coordinates every tap in the same spot on your screen will generate a random GPS coordinate way off! Then when entering details you are not allowed to edit the gps coordinates to correct it. Only edit the name and description. Looks like it's a bug which can be acceptable and unseen but then there is the gasket l failure of not for seeing the need to edit the gps coordinates.
