Surat an-Nabaʼ (Arabic: سورة النبأ‎, "The Tidings", "The Announcement") is the seventy-eighth chapter (sura) of the Quran with 40 verses. It is forty verses are divided into two equal parts of twenty verses each. The first twenty verses are filled with the wonders of the worldly creation (the earth, plants, the peace of night, the mountains and rain). The latter twenty verses arewith the eternal wonders and horrors of the next world with raging sinner (the Arabic root TGY "tageena" is used) being punished starkly opposed with the rewarding of dutiful believers (the Arabic root WQY "mutaqeena" is employed as a poetic parataxis to TGY) in paradise.

Hadith / Hadees:
Abu Ishaq narrated from Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl, from Ibn Abbas who said: "Abu Bakr [may Allah be pleased with him] said: 'O Messenger of Allah! You have become gray.' He said: 'I have gone gray from Hud (surah), Al-Waqi'a / Waqiah, Al-Mursalat and `Amma Yatasa'alun (An-Naba) and Idhash-Shamsu Kuwwirat (At-Takwir).

The Holy Prophet (a.s.) said that memorization of this surah carries a great reward.

If this surah is recited with the intention of staying awake, then the reciter will not fall asleep and if it is recited before traveling then the journey will become easy with the help of Allah Almighty.

1. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said: One who recites this Surah and memorizes it, would not be subjected to reckoning or the Day of Judgment, except to the extent of the writing of Surah Naba and he would be admitted to Paradise.
2. Imam as-Sadiq (a.s.) said: If one recites “Amma Yatasaa- aloon” (Surah Naba) daily for one year then a year would not pass but he would have the honor of paying homage to the Holy House of Allah, if Allah wills.
Surah an-Naba (The Great Event)
There are 40 verses in this ‘makki’ Surah. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said that whoever recites this Surah everyday will be fortunate enough to visit Masjidul Haraam in the same year. The Holy Prophet (S) said that memorization of this Surah carries great reward.
If this Surah is recited with the intention of staying awake, then the reciter will not fall asleep and if it is recited before travelling then the journey will become easy.
i) Whoso recites this surah daily for one year he would go to hajj in the following year.
ii) Whoso recites this surah and memorises it would not be examined on the day of reckoning more than the time in which this surah is written down, or a salawat is recited or a salat is prayed, then he would be sent to paradise.
