My husband and I wanted a way to message on the plane because we end up getting split up with our 3 kids between the two of us. Bridgefy was recommended with mixed reviews on the Google appstore, but with it being free, I thought why not try? Our communication was delayed by about 5 minutes while still on the ground, but once we got up in the air, the communication via Bluetooth worked almost instantly. It was nice to just keep in touch while flying or delayed. I recommend it!

Doesnt Work Reliably...Sadly. I was excited about this app because firechat doesnt work reliably either. I was happy to see that they got rid of the requirement to verify. But I cant get it to work reliably with two phones (both LG G6) with airplane mode on, no wifi and bluetooth and location on. And i found that it never worked reliably but i thought i was making progress when i figured out that you need to close and reopen the app once all the necessary settings were on (BT & Location). :(

This app used to not work between my android 12 and iOS 18 devices, but with the new updates they can communicate on public chat. When I try to send the first private chat from Android, "Failed to start conversation, user is not nearby" error message shows. If the first message is sent from an iPhone, the private chat function works. However, after a few minutes and closing the app on both devices, the Android stopped being able to send messages in either public or private chats.

App is not a one stop shop for offline Bluetooth messaging. Look elsewhere. You have to have internet to complete setup. So out in the middle of a campground k Grand Teton Nat'l park when my wife and I attempted to use it after sharing the file to her it didn't work. Next time we had service at a visitor center in Yellowstone we both got it working. Later when we tried it away from any networks the private conversation we previously had didn't work. This is NOT an offline friendly app.

Huge caveat: It claims to be a disaster-response app, but it requires Internet connection on initial setup. This means that you cannot use the app during actual disasters (because you won't be able to transfer it to other users who don't have it yet.) I will be testing hop-based forwarding over Bluetooth soon and I'll try to update the review. If it works, then at least it can be used in places such as caves (if everyone comes prepared).

Incredibly disappointed, the developers should be ashamed. The app will not recognise an active internet connection to do initial startup, I've given it every permission, updated and reinstalled it. Seeing other responses the developers have given to "restart it" and further reviews saying that even when it is working, they get ads but still slow, just tells me this is a grift. If I had more space, I'd give you a detailed breakdown. This is a toy, not a lifeline. Avoid. Buy a radio instead.

Just tried it out on a cruise with mostly good success, but Bluetooth range is limited, so you still need to be in fairly close proximity for it to work. My phone just updated to Android 15, and now the message box is covered by the Samsung UI and unable to send new messages.

Horrible app. I wanted to use it so that I can easily text my mom if we were on a protest or something and we get split. I downloaded it now on both devices, turned bluetooth on and allowed everything. After a couple minutes I turned off the wifi and checked the app on both phones, and it said that there were no other bridgefy users near me, even though the phones were right beside each other. I've tried everything and It just doesnt work.
