The lights themselves are very useful and build quality, and charge are great! The app is where the good vibes end. The app is well designed and user-friendly. Its weak point is constant connection issues. For me, after some time of use, the app loses connection to the lights. Also, if I go into a light's settings and it's on the color picker page, the app crashes, or goes into a "finding device" loop every, single, time, making the app unusable. I've resorted to manual control. Not ideal. 😔

Ok idk, people might be overly critical or have poor experiences on some weak old version of bluetooth. It works absolutely fine for me. So perhaps it's buggy for older phones but on my Note 10 lite, I was connected to both my rgb 480 panels in less than 15 seconds switching colors flawlessly easy. Sure. It switches your color settings when connected, but I can literally get it setup in seconds on the app. Oh and I didnt need an email. It let me use it without. ??

Ever since the update to the new version, I cannot connect to my light. - Turned on/off, uninstalled/reinstalled app. - Reset Bluetooth settings on device and on phone, even removed all other Bluetooth devices from my phone. - Checked that Bluetooth light is blinking, ready for pairing. - Made sure app had full permissions. - My phone can find the app, so can the third party app Lightblue that Neewer themselves recommends using to find the light and it too found my light. Bad, bad, bad.

Works fine. I got 2 neewer lights for Christmas so I could make YouTube videos, and never really did much with them. I needed a lamp and was going to buy one off Amazon when I remembered I had these sitting in the closet. The app is great. It does everything without requiring you to make an account - you can shut off both lights with 1 click of the "global" power button. It even has built in effects, like party and cop car and candlelight

Pretty much works, but requiring location data is total bull*censored*. EDIT:Responing to developer comment below, I can use multiple Bluetooth devices WITHOUT location being on, so that is BS. There is NO reason you need to have Location on, other than to vacuum up data for mining or other commercial purposes. Purposes that have NOTHING to do with the functionality of the software or hardware.

After a rocky start, the 5.0 update is a respectable improvement from before. However, much of the UI is unlabelled, meaning I have to click around randomly to learn what does what. It must be a hopeless experience for people using accessibility tools. Connecting to a light is still a matter of random chance. If this is a technical problem that can't be overcome, disconnected lights should at least have a "retry" option.

Go back to the older version of the app please!! The older version wasn't perfect, but the new version is virtually unusable. The menus and labels are super complicated and confusing, and a few things seem downright erroneous. (Why are two different lights listed as the same device??). Cannot stand this new version and wish I could revert.

I have a set of three RGB-530s set up in a traditional three-point lighting arrangement using a OnePlus 6T to connect. For the first month, the app worked flawlessly, but then an update occurred that has affected operation. I have no other Bluetooth devices in range of these lights that would interfere with operation. In the following months, I have rarely achieved desired operation. The connectivity issues have just been constant, which completely negates the convenience of the lights being Bluetooth. My rear light refuses to connect unless I turn the light off and back on every time I want to use it. Even then, I still often get connection errors with that light in particular. Every time I use the app, it's a guarantee that at least one or two lights will not connect and I have to cycle them on and off, on and off, on and off until they finally connect. After they are connected, within just a couple minutes, they will lose connection and/or not respond to inputs despite showing as connected. If my phone display times out and I have to unlock it, all three lights will be disconnected ... every time. Often, the rear light will disconnect within 20 to 30 seconds of being connected. It is supremely frustrating to have to do this considering I bought these Neewer lights to replace three soft boxes that I did have to turn on manually individually every time I wanted to use them. Now I do this with these panels only for it to work for just a couple minutes. The lights are great when everything is functioning, but with near-constant connectivity issues, I regret purchasing these lights since the corresponding app does not function appropriately.
