अल्लाह-तआला के अस्मा-ए-हुस्ना (पवित्र सुंदर नाम) हदीस शरीफ में आया है की अल्लाह के रसूल सल्लल्लाहु अलैहि व सल्लम ने इरशाद फ़रमाया कि - अल्लाह-तआला के 'अस्मा-ए-हुस्ना' जिनके साथ हमें दुआं मांगने का हुक्म दिया गया है निन्यानवे हैं । जो व्यक्ति इनको याद करलेगा और पढ़ता रहेगा वह जन्नत में जायेगा .

इस हदीस में जिन 99 नामों का वर्णन है उनमे से अधिकतर नाम क़ुरआन करीम में है । केवल कुछ नाम ऐसे है जो बिलकुल उसी रूप में क़ुरआन में नहीं है लेकिन उनका भी स्रोत जिस से वे नाम निकले है क़ुरआन में है, जैसे 'मुन्तक़िम' तो क़ुरआन में नहीं है मगर " ज़ुनतिक़ाम" क़ुरआन में आया है ।
