This rating is in response to an old update that changed deleting conventions. It used to be that you could long hold the delete key, and it would wipe the entire word. Now, you have to tap the key for every letter. Doesn't seem like the biggest deal, but it absolutely eats up time for really long words (and because of the keyboard set up in-app, I usually end up hitting "l" more than once instead of the delete key). It's been messing with my scores :( Please fix this, that'd be great!!

Finally after 3 years of playing this app I've had all I can take off the crappy keyboard! It was fine about 2 years ago before the developers downgraded it to a sluggish, laggy, and very buggy affair, horrid to use, and was 'lorded' by developers as a great upgrade! (laughable) . Upgraded my phone to something much faster, yet performs even worse. You can start typing in one clue and then it randomly jumps to another whilst typing!! Very counter productive and frustrating! = UNINSTALLED 😖

Originally thought that this was an excellent UK English crossword. And in some respect it is, functionally, but some of the abbreviations used in some of the clues do not make sense. E.g. "mo" on some planets is short for month. That was a recent example. The puzzle itself appears to work well and the graphics are clear. Just the clues are irritating sometimes.

One of the better crossword apps you will find. Provides a decent challenge and gives a lot of content for free. It could use a couple of enhancements: 1) A one off paid option for removing ads would be nice. 2) Support for the device keyboard would be ideal. Currently you are forced to use the in app keyboard and it is a bit hit and miss. Well worth a download though!

After a year of playing this is getting worse - the keyboard is incredibly laggy and unresponsive, it would be better to use the built in keyboard as it really slows us down. 2) the game seems to have become more American over the time we've played it. It used to be enjoyable and the ads don't seem intrusive, but I'm looking for alternatives as the Devs don't seem interested in fixing the issues.

Edited my review after some time with this app. I'm very disappointed that the one decent British crossword puzzle app suffers lazy (and often incorrect) crossword clues taken from everywhere else. The built in keyboard is bad, why would it even be necessary. The moment I began it recommended an easy puzzle, I clicked the button and saw that it was instead a hard one. Lots of clues are ridiculously vague, others require research: seed coat is not called an aril. Aril is an accessory seed coat.

Latest update makes this the ultimate ad pusher. Shame it is no longer a crossword game. Game keyboard a horror to use, especially if you're trying for a good time. Privacy settings essentially pointless as you have to allow everything to register on the leaderboard. At least they have repaired what they broke in the last update.
Max wee
An okay game but extremely repetitive. Despite claiming to be a British style crossword it is (as most are) very American and difficult to complete if you don't come from that country. You need to broaden your clues and become more international.
