I bought the Color Reader EZ on the end of December '22. Installed the app, made some measurements and put it in the drawer. One month later, … impossible to connect to the device ! I tried everything, nothing worked. Ον Android phone and tablet. Both see the device but the app won't. The developers need to fix this problem ! Otherwise, it is completely useless. Update: On March 14, they did ! It works flawlessly now ! Thanks !

Following the last update, the device will no longer connect to the phone through Bluetooth. Would be nice if someone addressed all these connection failures people are now experiencing. Update: Datacolor site knows the app has crashed and ColorReader no longer connects. Says uninstall and reinstall. Does nothing different other than entertainment value. Looks like Datacolor has scammed users for the price of their now useless hardware.

As a professional painter, this tool is absolutely garbage. It never reads colors, it constantly shuts off, the app just closes, and won't reopen, and it constantly disconnects. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! it's just a scam in a box Too bad I can't post pictures. I even took this tool straight to a Sherwin Williams deck and it couldn't match ANY of the colors whatsoever. STRAIGHT FROM A SWATCH BOOKLET! Same results with a Rodda booklet. This thing is trash

The app does not find nor connect to the Datacolor Reader on my Android phone although the Bluetooth recognized it. When I tried to connect from Bluetooth an error message popped up saying it needed the app to connect. I tried the suggested hard reset and uninstalling and reinstalling the app to no avail. However, when, I tried to connect from the Datacolor Reader app on my iPhone, it worked immediately, and I was able to register and calibrate the reader.

simple to use, with an intuitive interface, a cost effective alternative to research grade color meters. this is being added to our QA and production processes to help with defect control. Awesome! Thank you datacolor.

Very cool little device! Very accurate if you pick a flat smooth area to capture the sample from. I did notice whites are a bit harder for it to predict so area has to be very smooth. Not sure why people say you can't filter by paint decks, it's really easy, just read a color, select change at top and pick the brands you want to use. I turned off 3 brands that are not commonly used in Arizona. Paid $107 for the color reader tool at Dunn Edwards, so worth it, clients are always amazed by it!

I have a OnePlus (android). The app works once, while registering the reader. Maybe. I have attempted to connect 3 separate units to my device and only the first connected for the first use, after that no amount of charging/fiddling/resets would allow my phone to 'find' the device. As other reviews have stated, this IS NOT a standalone app. It requres a device that you sync to your phone through the app, there are different models but they start at CDN$150.

Far better than colour chips, but with a disappointingly low degree of accuracy/consistency (typically ~60% error rate), no option to choose the best single match from multiple reads in different positions, and a disappointingly low array of fan deck providers in EU/UK. App and partners need an update please! :)
