This method of language learning is so helpful for me (I'm learning Japanese). The pace of learning is slow but it's so easy and effortless. You'll never struggle to remember what you're learning. There are grammar explanations, cultural tips, and the benefit of having a native speaker. It's an invaluable resource. You must download each file to listen to it, which is fine except that I haven't found a way to delete them after. I wish they had a written language guide too (kanji is a nightmare).

It is a good course. The Michel Thomas method works great if learning French where there is a huge overlap with English in terms of vocabulary. There is almost no overlap with Irish, and so I say "good". What is really annoying is the software, really unstable; expect to reinstall it frequently.

PLEASE BE WARNED! Although the Michel Thomas method is excellent and has worked very well for me, DO NOT BUY THIS APP!!! I've had problems with the Apple store version which seems to have completely disappeared after spending $60 and now the android version is broken and just loads a blank white screen after spending $75. This is by far the worst App experience I've ever had. I feel ripped off. AGAIN!!!

Rubbish. The Portuguese 'free lesson' is actually a 3 minute infomercial. That's it. You don't get to try any language learning. I've done MT French and Spanish previously and liked them. Very disappointed with this experience. PS I'd give it no stars if that were possible. UPDATE: I've now bought Portuguese Foundation. Good course but the app is poor. Lots of bugs and usability issues. No room to list here...

This is a review of the app itself, not of the Michel Thomas method, which I rate very highly. The app is poor, mainly because you cannot control it via Bluetooth headsets which, given the learning method relies on you being able to pause and repeat what was said, is unforgivable and detracts from the whole learning experience.

This app is problematic. When the screen is turned off, the app stops all the time as if it were buffering. This makes it unusable on the go and isn't great otherwise for battery. Also, if I pause, when I press play the current playing track is skipped and playback resumes from the beginning of the next track. If I go back to the previous track then the position is lost. From a usability point of view this is bad. You often need to pause as part of the learning. I am using a modern device with plenty memory and processing capacity. Beyond that it feels pretty basic, but that would be ok if it did the job. It's a real shame because I have used the Michel Thomas method before and really enjoyed it - but this is just preventing me from learning. It's frustrating. Sort this out guys.

This is a good app for learning a language. You can read and listen to the language. It remembers what track you last listened to, but does not remember what page you last read. So my only suggestion for improving it would be to make a bookmark or sticky feature so that you don't lose your place in the reading portion of the app. (EDIT: there is a bookmark feature, but it doesn't jump to your bookmarked page, you have to flip through pages to get to the bookmarked page). It's a good app overall.

Content is excellent but the delivery is poor. The learning method relies heavily on the pause / play button, it needs a much bigger control so you don't need to look at the screen. It would be good to be able to play a selection from it to fall asleep to rather than the whole thing without pause. The content is busy teaching me spanish though. ... 21 Sept 2019, its stopped working again, following Android System update. Just get a blank screen / no library.
