Welcome to the Native Land app by Native Land Digital!

We strive to map Indigenous lands in a way that changes, challenges, and improves the way people see the history of their countries and peoples. We hope to strengthen the spiritual bonds that people have with the land, its people, and its meaning.

We strive to map Indigenous territories, treaties, and languages across the world in a way that goes beyond colonial ways of thinking in order to better represent how Indigenous people want to see themselves.

We provide educational resources to correct the way that people speak about colonialism and indigeneity, and to encourage territory awareness in everyday speech and action.

This project is a work in progress, and it's not meant to be a legal or academic resource. To learn about definitive boundaries, contact the nations in question.

Please send us fixes if you find errors.

** Updated- the changes made to the app makes navigation much easier and app no longer freezes! Love the updates! It's an excellent concept and had potential to be an incredible resource but navigation could use some work and it freezes a lot. It would be amazing if you could see all the overlays on the map at once. Overall I really appreciate that there is an app like this available (and I wish you the best with any improvements you plan to make) and I would definitely still recommend!

The idea of this is great. Execution could use some work. I'm on a Note 10+ and the top search bar is so far up that I trigger my drop down menu. I have to precisely touch the bottom of the search if I want to enter information. Maps should be loaded at any view not just when you enter an address. As a feature suggestion, there should be an easy way to share a map through social or messaging natively as oppose to screenshots. If those things would be modified and working flawlessly - 5 stars!

Gave it a 3 because the idea is stupendous. I am intrigued by it so much and want to learn more. However, the functionality of the app is horrendous. It won't let me pan the map, search for land, OR move between the map, resources, and other tab. It needs some techie help.

I am giving this app 5 stars for support because I know it is a work in progress. It is good for seeing the lands of nations but should also have an option such as seen on the website which shows all lands at once without clicking anywhere. It will be great seeing the finished product, as most indigenous territories outside of North America have not been mapped.

Initial startup problems but it loaded after a short time. I think this is a great idea but is definite need of expansion to include other tribes across the entire U.S. I'll be keeping this installed on my phone in hopes that there will be later updates. EDIT: Just realized you can drop a pin to learn more about your area. I think instructions upon first use would be extremely beneficial to new users!

I spent almost 3 days trying to search for the information that I was able to find in a couple minutes using this app. I imagine it is the most accurate and easiest tool available to people to see the very simple fact. You are on stolen land. From who, when, and how can you show respect to those offenses? Thank you to the developers for this vital tool. I will be recommending it to everyone.

Awesome idea for an app. However none of the links to the tribes for the area I live in worked. They all resulted in 503 errors. I'm fine to look them up myself but it would be great to see this app be fully functional as I feel it's such a vital tool for information for those of us who want to learn more about the native land we live on and to be more culturally aware. I look forward to seeing this app grow.

The website is fantastic, but this app did not work for me. It started to load a location, and then sat on a loading screen without doing anything else. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and it did the same thing. I suggest not bothering with the app and just using the website itself.
