Data security and authorisations.
What permissions does SBB Mobile need and why?
Location
For connections from your current location, the GPS function must be activated so that SBB Mobile can find the nearest stop. This also applies if you want to have the nearest stop displayed in the timetable.
Calendar and e-mail
You can save connections in your own calendar and send them by e-mail (to friends, an external calendar). SBB Mobile requires read and write permissions to be able to import your desired connection into the calendar.
Access to the camera
SBB Mobile requires access to your camera to take pictures directly in the app for your personalised touch timetable.
Internet access
SBB Mobile requires internet access to search the timetable as well as for ticket purchases.
Memory
To support offline functions, e.g. station/stop list, connections (history) and purchased tickets, SBB Mobile requires access to your device’s memory (saving app-specific settings).

The easy ride is nice but DANGEROUS, use carefully. Even with sharing location, no battery optimizations,... It can reset the status and if you turn again inside the train, you will receive a ticket because it was after departure. SBB itself don't want to check the logs to see that you actually did before. It is possible revert the case, but it is unnecessary painful. PS: I still use the feature, but always scared checking every minute. PS: It is not a location problema, since it at least warns.

Lately (last 3 versions as of this review) the Easy Ride feature has stopped functioning properly. Sometimes it will not work at all. Sometimes it will select First Class and charge you for that, even though I have never changed it from second class. If you save a trip, and try to select it to see what your transfer is, it will freeze the app. Everything about the app has gotten worse to the point of not functioning.

Much better than the website, but sometimes has inaccurate information. Need to check the local ZVV.ch website for delays and route changes. Update: Thanks for the response SBB, however I have issues with the Postauto busses not being correct. Recently I have missed connecting busses, been stranded in small villages and had very long 30+ minute delays because of construction, changed routes, etc. This was not in Zürich, but in the countryside outside the city. Drivers apologized and said I needed to use the ZVV website in the future as the SBB app is not reliable they said.

The app has definitely made life back in Switzerland easier. I'm only frustrated that no matter what I do it wont update to the fact that I did not buy the half tax pass again, and so the prices don't update properly. I almost got a ticket and was lucky that the train conductor took the issue as a misunderstanding. Crossing fingers that uninstalling and reinstalling will do the trick because I do love this app!

This app could be really great, especially with how awesome the SBB network is. That said, it is very buggy. The app has crashed on me several times when researching connections and especially if I try to change station/direction. The app also crashes sometimes or doesn't load connections from the drag to connect feature. Finally, it also isn't always very clear which tickets are available and the price. When searching, it says tickets available from price X. However, when I click it is more.

The EasyRide slider will randomly revert back to the "stopped/not started" position from the "started/riding" position, at least on my android phone (even if it already loaded your location). Worse yet, if it does this just after you've already boarded, it frequently compounds the issue, as it either just freezes up so you can't correct it or it'll try to get your location while you're stuck on a moving tram/bus/train and keep you from correcting the slider. Use that function with caution.

This app made my travel in Switzerland so simple! I had a 2-week Swiss Rail Pass, so I wasn't using the ticket purchase feature of the app, but for routes and schedules it was perfect. I especially liked knowing the platform I'd arrive on and depart from, and if the train was running behind schedule. Without this app, I would have not been able make last minute decisions on where to go next. Traveling Switzerland was a wonderful experience!

Every time I login and try to use it, I get an error message. I've allowed all cookies and logged out, uninstall and checked all the setting with no success on purchasing anything. All I can do is look at the routes. Super frustrating because I'm the only person in my friend group who can't purchase my ticket.
