verificaCOVID is the official application to check Covid certificates in Catalonia. It is operated by the Generalitat of Catalonia.

With this app, you can verify the validity of the EU (CCD-EU) and UK Covid Digital Certificates.

This is how the application works

A button on the home screen activates the smartphone camera and the application is ready to capture the QR code.

Simply place the QR code of your certificate, in paper or digital format, so that it is displayed in the box on the screen, and the QR code will be scanned automatically. Immediately afterwards, the system performs an automatic verification according to the Spanish validity criteria. During this verification process, the electronic signature of the certificate is verified and the validity period of the certificate is compared with the current date. It shows:

• A V mark and a green background indicate that the certificate presented is valid.
• An exclamation point and a red background indicate that the presented certificate is invalid.
• A question mark and an orange background indicate that the test failed.

The first and last names as well as the date of birth of the certificate holder are also displayed.

Data protection is essential

Data from Covid certificates and testing processes are not saved.
A Covid certificate is protected by a digital signature and is therefore tamper-proof.

What is a Covid Certificate?

People who have been vaccinated, have tested negative in PCR or RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) or have recovered from Covid disease can request a Covid Digital Certificate (CCD-EU).

Covid Certificates are issued in electronic format in any of the three following cases, and with different validities:

1. Vaccine: It does not expire.
2. Recovery after being infected with Sars-CoV-2: Valid for 180 days.
3. Negative result of a test for Sars-CoV-2: PCR (Validity 72h) or RAT (Validity 48h).
