Thanks for checking out my app! I'm a solo-developer trying to make learning fun and easy! :-D It's been featured on Tofugu, GamesKeys, and ChopsticksNY!

Blocks with Japanese Kanji on them fall and you try to eliminate them by forming words and and activating kanji-related powerups by combining them into more complex Kanji. It's a great way to learn kanji for beginners, a fun alternative to flashcards for advanced learners as you can import your Anki, WaniKani, and Koohii decks, and a fun game overall! :D There are also fun minigames and focused learning tools to keep you learning kanji and words as you play! This works great in conjunction with other apps and resources!

Tired of playing games where you spend a lot of time - a LOT of time - and have nothing to show for it? You compare yourself before and after and you're just ... less bored. Well, if you'd rather spend your time more productively and have fun, try KanGenius Japanese Kanji Drop where you - yes, YOU - can learn how to read Japanese without any effort at all! You'll find yourself in a relaxed state picking up a lot of kanji and words almost passively! No stress, only fun!

Japanese kanji are the ideograms found in Japanese that are kind of like letters, but represent an idea, like gold, fish, sun, etc.! Now learn them in this falling block puzzle kanji game where you'll find emoji to help you learn kanji, POWERUPS that relate to the kanji, and a fully functional glossary. You can even narrow down your learning list to kanji from the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Levels 1 to 5! You can even review kanji from your text book lesson - Nakama, Genki, & Tobira! You can also play in a learning mode with more time between kanji! Learning kanji has never been easier or more fun!

Learn Japanese kanji by dropping blocks to make kanji and words! Make kanji from their parts and words from other kanji! Blow them up by making words or filling your limit meter and they all EXPLODE!

Learn all Japanese jouyou kanji for fun or proficiency. Every time you make a word or kanji, its meaning is spoken and you also hear the pronunciation of words. You also learn how to make kanji from their parts, just like in Remembering the Kanji, Vol. 1, by James Heisig. You can find a story from that book as well as animated stroke order diagrams and a list of your favorite kanji.

Open to all skill levels! It starts off easy and gives you hints when you're stuck. Keep playing and you'll find yourself recognizing more and more kanji!

Really good game. The graphic is a bit outdated, but that doesn't matter. It's a real game (it's fun) and it's helpful to remember the shape of the kanji. It's a fantastic idea ありがとう!

I can't believe that no one recommended this app! I never thought that I would say, "Kanji makes sense (sometimes)" The explanations for kanji characters are amazing and make so much sense, like the explanation for 早 being an imagining of an early flower like sunflower makes it unforgettable. There are more explanations like that too. I have never had Kanji explained in a more simple way. Even if this type of explanation is common for Japanese learners, this app makes it very easily accessible.

Would rate 5 stars if it wasn't for the offline ad. It gets annoying after a while Edit: my main problem is offline ads playing while I have Internet on. The game shows me normal ads and offline ads at the same time which is really annoying when I'm trying to play the game.

this is a very good app for learning japanese but there is a bug where during the animation when you press "next" in a word mini game and you press the x, then you cannot learn other words unless you close and reopen the app. Please fix this bug if you can 🙏 but it's not too big of a deal. Also please add your discord link here, the tinyurl link from kanji drop doesn't work.

You can really tell this game has a soul. It has so much put into it. I'll overlook how complicated the GUI is but man, this is amazing! So many different functions, descriptions to help memorize, quizzes, lists of combined kanji for all the symbols, you can click on the combined ones to memorize those too. Simply wonderful. Hell, the kanji blocks even have a barely visible background to help you subconciously memorize it. Simply wonderful, I haven't seen a better app for this. So underrated!

Awesome app..However a couple of points made my experience less immersive. When the drop speed increase I stop learning. Would like to see a normal mode with constant drop speed, may be call the current speed increase challenge mode. Usually I look down the phone to see where to put the block. When a new word pops at the top, it distracts me because I want to look at it. Perhapse make the word pop in the middle of the screen to reduce ditraction And please add volume control for each language.

It's hard to find an educational game that is actually addicting; this is the first one. It teaches you the parts making up a kanji, making it easier to memorize them. That said, the design could be better and less cluttered. Some buttons, such as the "x" button are too small, and having too many functionalities right away can be very overwhelming for someone using the app for the first time a button to toggle advanced options would be awesome.

It could be useful if you are already very advanced and know a lot of kanjis (500+). A good improvement would be to show suggestions (list of 3 words) or have matching blocks highlighted when a new block comes. The UI is very hart to navigate on a phone. The controls are not very intuitive (if you click on the bottom left corner, it'll register only bottom, not left). Otherwise the fact that each word is read in Japanese and English is very helpful. I'll probably search for another app for now.
