Battle demons and undead attorneys, and win souls to pay back your student loans! At the elite demonic-law firm of Varkath Nebuchadnezzar Stone, you'll depose a fallen god, find romance, and maybe even make partner, if you don't lose your own soul first.

"Choice of the Deathless" is a necromantic legal thriller by Max Gladstone, Campbell Award-nominated author of "Three Parts Dead" and "Two Serpents Rise." The game is entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and powered by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

• Explore a fantasy realm with a rich and evolving backstory, based on the novels published by Tor Books.
• Play as male or female, gay or straight, dead or alive (or both).
• Build your career on carefully reasoned contracts, or party all night with the skeletal partners at your firm.
• Navigate intrigue and mystery in a world of scheming magicians and devious monsters.
• Look for love in at least some of the right places.
• Balance student loans, sleep, daily commute, rent payments, and demonic litigation—hey, nobody said being a wizard was always fun.

Note: You can play the first part of the game for free. (Beware, it ends on a cliffhanger!) You can purchase the rest of the game inside the app; purchasing the rest of the game will also turn off in-game advertisements.

Really loved the game. I've only finished one path but it was super exciting and the descriptions were beautiful. There were plenty of options for each scenario too, but I kinda wish in certain scenarios that you can basically only pick one path and stick with it entirely. (Like the party, and that you can't do one option and later do another option. I mean come on its a party, who only does one thing.)

I actually purchased this book. The trial version doesn't do this story any justice. The characters are well defined and the ending is excellent. This story was a bit broken up because of the narrative which has your character grasping shards of his consciousness: because of this the game introduces a whole world and characters at once. It's alot to take in but this makes the game better on subsequent playthroughs. Great replayability as well with multiple endings and excellent stats in-game.

This is the choose-your-own-adventure I use to measure all others. The writing is witty and dry with some of the most delightful descriptions I've come across. Excellent works building that treats the arcane abs patently absurd as completely ordinary - true to the setting. I seldom replay these more than a few times, but I've played this the same way several times over just to reread the story.

An amazingly written story in one of the most bizarre and unique fantasy worlds that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Your choices drastically effect the story and leave a lot of room for replayability, the characters are all very well written and likeable, the writing has humor and charm, and I can't really think of a single major flaw with the book as a whole. Definitely one of the best Hosted or Choice of game that I've played.

It's a shame the game doesn't allow nonbinary options but overall, I enjoyed this game. Definitely tied with Choice of Dragons as my favorite COG product. The writing style's great (whimsical and with a side of the macabre) and the lore is really interesting. The characters are entertaining and charming. It also has some good ol' gallows humor. You are dealing with otherworldly abominations and demonic horrors after all!

I give 5 stars to the story & to this developer for reasonable 1 time unlock fee with no additional fees. I give 3 stars to the following - Once you play through once, on re-plays you should be able to go back to specific points. A few glitches - 1 partner likes me about 20% less although I made the same decisions; Wakefield changed genders randomly; Links to wrong text when Stone visits in hospital which refers to me knocking Wakefield out when I did not make that choice.

By far the most poorly represented choice story in the whole line up. The thumbnail is silly and the description boring. But the story is actually fantastic. It is dark, crazy, and all around just darn good. It is actually a serious story and crazy dark at times. I loved it.

One of the best games I've seen from Choice of Games- the writing is witty, the choices have impact, and no matter how many times I play it the story feel unique and fresh with each run through. It's definitely worth the price.
