A seemingly infinite amount of levels to make is regret asking for more from the first game. Achievements are timely and hard to unlock. Not much online play required, but basic strategy is based more off of prefect timing and following the tides of battle than anything else. Losing is a painful trial and error lesson. Several new plants that surprisingly have good powers and uses. Zombies come in more varieties than you thought were possible with even more in the next game.

Had to edit this review. While I still enjoy the game, there are certain challenge levels that feel like crimes. The "don't spend more than x amount of sun" levels. I can not properly tell you how many times I have lost said levels, due to either forgetting about the stupid challenge, or still remembering the challenge and yet placing down a plant that costs slightly too much. And then there's the "kill x zombies in x seconds" levels. Both level types are winnable, but are still easy to fail.

I don't like how much you have to grind to get one thing, plus there's a lot of plants that require money. You also used to be able to play the adventure in any way you wanted to. Like you could just play a couple levels of this world and then you could just choose a different one if you wanted to. It's so much more boring having to play the game in order. I like how there's cool events, but it takes forever for one try! And if you don't waste real money, it's going to take even longer!

The fact that the dialogue after some levels (specifically far future day 7) after the dialogue, it just crashes only showing the blue arrow on top of the dialogue and the background. Other then this the games really good. If you fix this, 5 stars! Idk if this is a glitch or not.

After years of playing this game I have taken my rating down two stars simply because THE GAME DOESN'T LET YOU SELECT THE WINNING PINATA ... EVER. ITS IMPOSSIBLE. LAME. The gameplay will keep you hooked for years Believe it or not, just like the original game did. It is both casual and low stress. Though challenging enough to merit making a purchase every now and then and getting some new plants. Other than it's enormous size, I can't really complain about anything in terms of the game.

I hate that they changed the fact that you could beat level one and all the levels opened up. Which was helpful to use plants you earned on different levels. Now it's soooo boring going one by one and you can't earn plants easily anymore. Not what it use to be. On top of that if you have new device, there is no way to start where you left off like other games. Sucks

My son and I enjoy the game, but I have it because my 5 year old loves it. There are too many adds even with all the add options turned off. I'd gladly PAY for an addless version. If you fail a level or between each level there's adds. It's frustrating. Also I don't understand the mini challenges in the adventures mode. That's what "bonus game modes" should be for.

Great time killer. It's very repetitive, but new plants make it fun. Lots of grinding in order to get to a competitive point in the game. Unless you're P2P and get these M level plants which will pop up every now and then in PvP smh. Solar Sage will crash the game almost every time. Kind of annoying when you're playing the Penny's Pursuit boss level. It will count that as a loss. Some annoying stuff but overall and fun free game.
