I love the *idea* of the hatch but only sort of like the implementation. The music - which my kid wants for falling asleep - only plays the same song over and over and over. They have all these theoretically great instrumental music options but it doesn't play a whole variety of "mello cello" or "harp classics" songs, just one again and again. Its unbelievably poor programming. It also isn't smart enough to override a schedule if I start it early, which inevitably then disrupts bedtime.

Buggy interface setting up the light. Constantly shows the unit disconnecting, could be hardware too. Slow to connect to wifi or Bluetooth. When an error occurs in setup you have to start from the beginning, not the last failed step. Update 01/05/2024 still a hot mess of failures and issues update 11/02- wow somehow it keeps getting worse. The ability to change sounds while a routine is running is broken. It now forces a whole new routine.

I love our hatch! We have two, one for each kid, and they've been so helpful in coping with fear of the dark. They both like to have the light and sound on. Having options for different kinds of noise or lullabies is great and the kids are old enough now to ask for which they like and want for any given night. It's also great to have the birdsong which we use as a gentle alarm on school days. The toddler lock is great! It would be nice if you could add other songs or noise to it through the app.

The programming is so bad. You can choose what time a program starts, but not when it stops. Instead you have to tell it how long the light should be on, which results in some really annoying math when you have to change the program, like I do every day. The hatch can't be two colors and intensities at the same time, so why can programs overlap? It's really bad.

The sound is cutting in an out. The volume will be at a 40 but will fluctuate up higher every few seconds. Not a consistent sound. I tried resetting it and Unplugging it. Nothing. On my hunt for a new sound machine i guess. Only had this one for about 2 years. I thought it would last longer than that.

Love hatch sleep. Would love it to have some more Instrumental options instead of speaking. The Music without talking is very limited. Many Selections are very short, and the longer ones all sound very similar. I would love an option somewhere to suggest new musical collections, such as music heard at massage places. Some flutes, woodwinds, or other soothing world music would be great!

Updating my original review, as even with premium there are still so few simple alarm sound options. I now have become so accustomed to the alarms that I sleep through them. Would really appreciate some calm, gentle sounds to use as new alarms. The flute, birds and ocean sounds are great, but need new sounds that are not jarring and allow for an enjoyable wake up.

We have 2 hatches. (1st & 2nd gen) The 1st gen interface is MUCH better! 2nd gen is weird and messy. Plus, it seems hatch is increasingly greedy. Initially, the free version had 50ish options. Lullabies, sounds, music, & a few stories. Each update, they put more behind the paywall. 2 years later there are a mere 19 options. 3 lullabies, & 16 sounds. I could buy a basic $25 sound machine and get the same options. Not worth what you pay. Tries to force subscription. Would not recommend.
