Syrinscape will transform your next role-playing or tabletop gaming session. Syrinscape is a revolutionary sound design app created in Australia by tabletop role-playing aficionados. The app conjures every aural landscape imaginable, from ethereal forests or dank, vermin-filled dungeons to the spooky depths of the underworld. Try it out for FREE and then Register at www.syrinscape.com to buy more content.

Unlike other soundboard-style apps, Syrinscape uses editable and adaptable libraries of sound files – SoundSets – to 'improvise' soundscapes, allowing users a great degree of control over what they are hearing, while requiring almost no interaction while the app runs.

The Syrinscape Fantasy Player app is optimized for Android Tablets, giving users the ability to playback Syrinscape SoundSets with a beautiful, easy-to-use interface. The Syrinscape Fantasy Player comes with two free SoundSets ready to download, then you can purchase additional SoundSets as you need. All the fantasy SoundSets you buy from the Google Play Store or the Syrinscape Store will be available across all devices you own, so you can pick up whichever device is to hand and immerse yourself in whatever sound world you desire.

I really want to like this. The interface is similar to the app, which is good, but also doesn't work great on a phone. But the thing that makes it completely unusable as a DM is the lack of background play. If I can't close the app to look something up without the music turning off, it's just not going to work. Until that's enabled, it's a total non-starter.

Love the idea, hate the execution. If you are putting the time in beforehand and have a dedicated tablet-device just for running this during the actual play sessions, then you might be ok. Reasons for this are mainly the unresponsive and finnicky UI, the fact that it stops when you leave the app and the high percentage of low quality and rather tacky sound files. With just an UI update (seriously) and a little more customizability this could easily be 5 stars.

I had recently bought a competing app (1-time purchase, instead of a subscription) - which does a lot of the things Syrinscape does. While I would say that Syrinscape offers "more", it also comes at the monthly cost of a "Netflix" subscription - which honestly feels a little steep. Also, the experience on Android is just bad. The app feels incredibly dated and needs to be redone. The web-version works well on PC; but not on Android (garbled sound).

Great in a lot of ways, but hard to actually use in your game, since it means you can't get any text messages or look up anything on your phone. I do appreciate the fact that the sounds are layered and complex, allowing fine-tuning with any particular that you desire, while also having really good defaults.

The app is fine, though the UI could be optimized more. I like being able to change the levels and elements in each scene, and the pre-made scenes for campaigns are pretty good. What really keeps me from giving this app any more than two stars, however, is that this app crashes once every 30 mins. It just stops and closes with no warning. Please fix this.

Overall this works fine, and I like the ability to use it from my phone to a Bluetooth speaker I have in my table. That said, having to leave my phone on and unlocked, and not being able to switch apps, is rather unacceptable in 2024. If I need to look up something for the game, the audio stops, until I return to the app. The UI is okay, but I wish it would open to a default I set instead of whatever's first I'm the list (currently Vecna, which I have no use for).

It's a fantastic idea, just not suited for phones at the moment. There are so many soundsets which is great, but it's very hard to navigate through them all as they're not grouped by any particular settings or anything (ie. Creatures, Cities, etc.). Maybe some tags to search through all of the soundsets would be good. The screen rotates regardless of whether or not the phone setting for rotation is on or not. There is something off with the resolution so everything looks a tad blurry, and upon initial launch there doesn't seem to be any help tutorial or tips to help you figure things out. These however are minor gripes. All in all great idea, but needs more polish.

I've been using this program for ten years - amazing variety and control over your sound effects and music. No ads, new sound sets monthly, with lots of one-shot sounds to add surprise to an encounter. Sounds can be added, dropped, or changed with a click. Marvelous at the gaming table, it's also great for just listening to something interesting or calming when reading, writing, doing things around the house, or working out. (Ever gone for a run when it sounds like a dragon is chasing you?!)
