The Shining Force games are S Tier hands down, but the emulator has two fundamental flaws. The D-Pad is horrendous. You're gonna be running all over the place when you just wanted to move one space to the left. The save feature sometimes leads to an endless load screen every time, and the way only way out is to restart the app. Don't try to rely on it. Huge plus, ads in the unpaid version are very unintrusive and minimal, but I went ahead and bought the game bundle for $5.

Disappointing! The cloud save is unreliable. The wheel just keeps spinning, and I can't even go back into the game to try again. A subscription is required for local save. I'd be fine watching a commercial each time I need to save or load, but the progress circle will just keep spinning forever. No RPG is worth playing if you can't save. Even when it does connect to Google it doesn't save. Please fix this issue, and I'll gladly update this review. Update 1-18-25: still no update and no response.
ayyy lmao
All time favorite games. Controls are lacking to say the least. Wish they would invest just a little bit to convert this to touch screen options, or fix the terrible d-pad after all these years. Thanks for the port at least

I like this game but when I watch an ad and I try to exit out of the ad it forces me back into the appstore ruining the game for me, and I didn't conveniently save a few minutes before maybe say a half hour. I may like this game but won't play it until that's fixed.

This was a great game on Sega Genesis and now a great game on my phone! The bugs that annoyed me have been fixed and now the only problem is my own fingers. I keep going backwards when I try to turn because the D Pad is too small.

Game is great but the control stick the have you use is awful, the game only uses the cardinal directions but the dpad has all 8, with the UPLR directions being paper thin so movement is terrible. Otherwise game runs great and is fun

Please find a way to give us Heroes of Light and Darkness. Shining Force dipped in quality when the grid map was abandoned and Heroes of Light and Darkness would've been perfect. Hell, even just a graphics update and mashing the games together in chronological order with a gacha unit acquisition would be good. The original games were so freaking good, and ya'll just.. stopped. Even now, 15 years into app games, we still haven't gotten anything when a revival could be groundbreakingly amazing.

I remember this Sega Genesis game fondly and was excited to see it is now a phone game as well. Problem is, though it starter off enjoyable, I learned early on that it doesn't save games early on in. Tried multiple times, annoyingly having to fight the same battles over and over, saving in every way I could, only to discover none of them took and when I started I was back at the same point in the game. Such an unfortunate waste of time.
