■No two players will experience the story in the same way■

The SaGa series is one of Square Enix’s most beloved. The first three titles were originally branded overseas under the “FINAL FANTASY LEGEND” moniker , and garnered critical acclaim for their complex yet compelling combat system.

Romancing SaGa 2 takes the varied gameplay of other entries in the series and combines it with an open-ended free-form scenario system whose story is as vast as the world in which it plays out. The player takes the role of a succession of emperors, painting the history of the world with each and every action.

Familiar series hallmarks such as formations and glimmers make a return in this unique title.

■Story■

It all begins with the song of a lone bard in a bustling pub.

Great nations such as the Varennes Empire, which had once ensured peace throughout the world, stagnated and atrophied over the course of centuries, and sinister forces started emerging in outlying areas.

Ere long, peace spiraled into war and the common folk spoke in hushed words of the Seven Heroes—historical figures who saved the world once and who, it was hoped, would do so again.

The swipe controls for movement are absolutely terrible, which is actually surprising because you would think that's something hard to actually mess up. Can't tell you how many times I ran the wrong direction or ran into a monster i didn't want to. EDIT: Somehow the game runs even worse now, freezing all the time, making it pretty much unplayable

This is a very difficult game. It was so difficult I did "New Game Plus" in the beginning, and even after that it ragequitted and uninstalled it. But I reinstalled it and ended up beating it. In the beginning I followed guides to the point; later on I used them less as I was actually progressing the story on my own. So I didn't unlock everything or see every scenario. I didn't the craziest characters at the end, but I found a strategy that basically wouldn't let the final boss breathe.

Movement controls could be more responsive, but it does kind of add to the challenge when you cant dodge fights easily. Translation could be a bit better in some parts as it does have typos. Non-linear gameplay, tons of abilities and stupidly good music, especially during the mini boss fights. Please squarenix release RS3 now!

two stars for bringing back an otherwise completely lost game in english speaking territories. The inconsistent resolutions which kill the retro aesthetic could have been overlooked. The terrible on screen controls could have been overlooked. The weird issues with lag thay cause monsters to be able to move before you can, etc etc all could have been overlooked. However after trying for hours i can now say it is consistent that upon beating Wagnas my game crashes. Squeenix pay your porters better

Have a love/hate relationship with SaGa games. They can be incredibly intimidating and challenging until you learn/master the unique mechanics, but the payoff is worth it to me, especially if you are a fan of old school jrpgs....but yeah the learning curve on this one is especially tough and not a game you can easily slide through. A lot of the mechanics are not properly explained but there are some great Tips videos on YouTube that helped me a lot!

Ignore the bad reviews....ok the controls are awkard at first...but you get used to them. So much to do in this game, yes ita absolutely brutal at times...but this was made back when games were not created for people to 'auto' through. Games just dont compare anymore! Perfect all the way!!! Sooo many special skills and sooo much magic choice. LOVE IT XXX

The SaGa series never ceases to amaze me with their excellent gameplay mechanics and fun exploration. I love the Free Scenario system as well, allowing me to play as I see fit. SaGa is one of the JRPG series with the highest replay value. Definitely one of the best JRPG series ever, easily surpassing most of the others.

Game is absolutely incredible, but the controls are just awful. The game is still playable despite the terrible controls, but it is very hard to avoid enemies, which is sometimes vital to progressing in this game.
