বিপিএলের সর্বশেষ আসর শেষ হয়েছিল ২০২৩ সালের জানু্যারিতে। আবার ২০২৪ সালে বসবে বিপিএল ২০২৪ টুর্নামেন্টটি। ২০২৩ সালের ডিসেম্বর শুরু হয়েছিল বিপিএলের সর্বশেষ আসরটি শেষ হয়েছিল ২০২৩ এর ফেব্রুয়ারি।২০২০ সালের মার্চ মাসে বাংলাদেশে সবধরনের ক্রিকেট টুর্নামেন্ট বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। প্রায় মাস ছয়েক সেভাবেই ছিল। তারপরে খেলোয়াড়রা ধীরেধীরে অনুশীলনে ফিরতে শুরু করেন এবং প্রস্তুতি ম্যাচের পরে নিজেদের মধ্যে ওয়ানডে ও টি-টোয়েন্টি টুর্নামেন্ট খেলে ক্রিকেটে ফিরেছিলেন টাইগাররা।
গত বছরে বাংলাদেশে আর কোনো ঘরোয়া টুর্নামেন্ট মাঠে গড়ায়নি। খেলা হয়নি কোনো আন্তর্জাতিক ম্যাচও। ফলে স্থগিত হয়ে যাওয়া সিরিজগুলো ২০২১ সালে আয়োজনের উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ। যদিও সবগুলো সিরিজই এখন আর খেলা সম্ভব হবে না। বিশেষ করে টেস্ট সিরিজ। তাই ২০২১ সালে বেশ ব্যস্ত সূচিতে দিন পার করবেন টাইগাররা। শুধু বাংলাদেশই নয়, অন্যান্য দেশগুলোও স্থগিত সিরিজ আয়োজন করে ক্ষতি পুষিয়ে নেওয়ার চেষ্টায় আছে।
তাই ২০২১ সালে হবে না বিপিএল। সবকিছু ঠিক থাকলে ২০২৩ সালের জানুয়ারি-ফেব্রুয়ারিতে মাঠে গড়াবে বাংলাদেশের টুর্নামেন্টটির নবম আসর। বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের (বিসিবি) সূত্রমতে বিপিএলের আসরটি শুরু হবে ২০২৪ সালের ৫ জানুয়ারি, চলবে ৩৬ দিন। বিপিএলের নবম আসরের সময়ও ঠিক করে ফেলেছে বিসিবি। ২০২৪ সালের ৩ জানুয়ারি শুরু হবে টুর্নামেন্টটি, চলবে ৪৬ দিন।
