How it works
Anyone can quickly identify what drones are flying in the sky nearby. Direct Remote ID is a feature that transmits live flight data via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to the surrounding area. Drone manufacturers use various technologies to build an identification feature in new drones. Pilots of older drones are using add-on devices, enabling them to become digitally visible. With hardware on your smartphone, Drone Scanner can receive and read broadcasted data.

The app works great, however I'd like to have the ability to save the trace showing exactly what your drone's path was. So far the only way I can find to do so is to take a screenshot. Also, you loose that trace if you turn off the transponder. I'd love to have the ability to "save" before closing the app. Partly because if Karen accuses you of flying over her you have a way of showing you didn't.

Works fine for me. I used a Spektrum A9500 RID module and Android phone. Once the RID module acquired GPS lock, it quickly showed up on the Drone Scanner app in the correct location and distance. Don't forget to turn Bluetooth ON. To those folks griping about having to use RID- don't blame DroneTag, after all, they are hobbyists just like us. We all hate the stupid way this whole RID thing is being forced upon us. I appreciate that they made this helpful app available. Thanks. ;)

Used to work great as of 03-09-2025. Then something happened, update maybe? No longer starts at all beginning 03-11-2025. Returns this message... "Dronescanner closed because this app has a bug. Try updating this app after the developer provides a fix for this error." Will gladly return 5 star rating after hot fix.

I'm waiting to test the connectivity with my D.J.I. Mavic 2 Zooms, both now upgraded to RID capability. Meanwhile, I downloaded this app weeks ago and have discovered that I don't have the "Drone Scanner" icon on my Android phone (Samsung). It is listed on the phone's app list. I can open it there or on the Play Store site but not from a short cut. The tutorial looks helpful, but going through it is clunky and not always successful.

The app is showing data in the metric system. Is there a way to change it to imperial measurements? The app connected to my Spectrum Sky Remote ID module without any problems, so I tried it out this evening. It actually worked quite well, but I saw a maximum altitude on my E-Flite Opterra of 411 m, which is apparently over 1300 ft. If I want to stay within the law, it sure would be easier to see my altitude in feet instead of meters. How do I change it?

It worked the first time it located my dji Mavic 3. but today a few days later it couldn't find it except for a few seconds. The drone was about 30m high and about 30 m away from me. I live on a farm so shouldn't be much wifi interference. PS. Is the remote Id information gathered on your app sent live to the cloud so that people can also track your flight regardless of distance using your app like a plane scanner shows planes around the world that you don't need to be in the immediate area

Downloaded..turned on my drone tracking device .ran the app. Gave blue tooth and wifi permissions.running android on Google 8pro . The app immediately showed my location and my device location as well as my registration serial number works like a charm..no issues. Thank you for a simple bit effective tracking app..if my plane should run away I have a pretty good shot of finding it ..

I can look up in the sky and visually see a drone, but this app does not detect it. The most it has done to (I assume) let me know there is a drone around is a blue arrow attached to me on the mep that sort of points in random directions around my blue dot on the map.
