Debris Tracker is an open data citizen science movement, powered by Morgan Stanley. Join us in creating a bigger picture of the plastic pollution crisis by using the app to report litter wherever you find it, from our oceans to your backyard. Every day, dedicated educational, non-profit, and scientific organizations and passionate citizen scientists from all around the world use the Debris Tracker app to record GPS data on inland and marine debris. To date, Debris Tracker users have contributed 2 million items to our open-data platform, hosted at the University of Georgia and accessible to researchers and curious citizens everywhere. Together we can create a more comprehensive understanding of marine debris and plastic pollution by collecting and sharing data, generating scientific findings, informing policy, and inspiring upstream solutions.

See our website for more information on how to get started or to download data: http://www.marinedebris.engr.uga.edu/. Debris Tracker is a joint effort of the NOAA Marine Debris Program and the Southeast Atlantic Marine Debris Initiative (SEA-MDI) out of the University of Georgia College of Engineering. Continued use of GPS in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

I like the app. I like crowd-sourced science. I had no issues using it but I saw: 1. The "help" icon uses URL that leads to a page with no content 2. I have location permissions set to "allow all the time" but the app stops using the location when the screen is off. This seems like it interferes with the app's goal of capturing a path log for statistical analysis. 3. I wish the keyboard used when editing the number of an item found used the number-only keyboard instead of the full one

I'm probably using the app in the wrong way i.e. I don't live on the coast and look for debris in the ocean or waterways etc. But I use it when I take my nightly walk and pick up trash and debris from my neighborhood. But, your app tends to mess up quite often and can't find a GPS signal ( at least that's what it says), and the little wheel keeps spinning and it loses the distance that I've walked, which is very frustrating.

I am using the app for a feq months and was happy with it. However, recently it started freezing mid data gathering, saying it is finding GPS signal and I had to refresh the app several times. Thankfully it didn't cause for my data gathered to that point to be lost. I hope the new update helps with this issue. Other than that, the app was good.

It was great until the update. I used this app a lot last summer and when the ice melted this spring I noticed a lot of changes. "Top trackers" was huge when it came to motivating others to help clean the shoreline. Please bring it back.

I am volunteering with my family to help the environment and Heal the Bay asked me to use this app. In theory it's fine but let's be honest, volunteers should not have to spend extra time counting the number of cigarette butts and straw wrappers. That time could be better used just picking up more trash. ALSO 50% of the time I can not get a "GPS signal" for this app to log anything even though other apps work fine. This adds more to the frustration

I was excited about this app. The app is slow when opening and it has crashed a few times. I think this is a great app that just needs some updates. I'll keep using it. I find trash everyday on my beach and I'll keep tracking it.

Great idea. Absolutely NOT EASY to use for the VISUALLY IMPAIRED Something like this should be accessable, especially if any funding comes from US Federal funds

Every country should have better solid waste management system. Even if i collect much garbage, there is no way to dispose or to recycle here. Anyway this is a good initiative. I appreciate .
