Sputter is an easy to use but capable mobile music making app. It has a mobile friendly user interface and requires no previous knowledge to create great tracks.

Instead of emulating traditional desktop music software it uses a mobile friendly approach inspired by more recent mobile offerings. At the same time it is not just a toy, and by exploring the help slides and the app itself you will discover several features uncommon in similar music making apps.

Some of those include:

* Feature complete grid style sequencer.
* Mark different sections of your song with various symbols so they are easily found.
* Choose from 16 different musical scales.
* Built in synthesizer/sampler with ADSR, filter, LFO and other good stuff.
* 10 built in effects: Gainer, Distortion, Bitcrusher, Filter, 3 Band EQ, Tremolo, Flanger, Chorus, Delay, Reverb.
* Effects and synth parameters automation with real time recording.
* Easily change and update whole parts of your song at once.
* Several different time signatures (2/4, 3/4 etc).
* Record any sound through microphone or default input device and use it as an instrument.
* Import your own wave files to create your own instruments.
* Export your song as MIDI or WAV for easy sharing and importing to other audio or video software.
* Export and import songs for sharing and collaborating with other Sputter users.
* Export and import instruments for sharing with other Sputter users.
* No ads.
* No unnecessary permissions.
* No subscriptions.

Sputter is proudly built using several open source technologies, including Pure Data and Faust for the audio engine and LibGDX for graphics and UI.

You can download and run the Pure Data patch which Sputter is based on, under a free and open license:

This is a great app, even better developer. I have tried using other apps as a creative outlet, for my music. i am thoroughly impressed not only wulith the capability of this app but the resulting audio quality of both .mid and , .wav formatted exports. fast customer support, who are also willing to do whatever it takes to keep a customer happy. 10 stars!!! I definitely reccommend this app.

Do not be fooled by the simplicity of the UI with a minimal number of controls; the program is quite deep. A full-fledged multi-track piano roll with the ability to snap notes to a scale. A plethora of hq instruments in which you can edit the ADSR of the amp/filter, LFO, tune, and make your own copies. All basic FX are here and every parameter of them can be automated. Plus, a rare feature for Android sound apps - latency compensation. The program has never crashed on any of devices.

Sputter fits the bill perfectly as an app for quick on the go sessions to jot down musical ideas (helped by the variety of scales and time signatures available). Everything works as expected, the interface is intuitive, the sounds are good and being able to create instruments is an added bonus. There are hidden depths to this app of which the highlight for me is the ability to automate so many parameters. I’m looking forward to updates, as the developer is responsive and open to suggestions.

Nice app. I have one comment and two suggestions. after changing the length parameter, why is the next note I input a single cell? I'm used to daws placing the next note with the most recent note size. Add a timing adjustment parameters (a la the velocity parameter) to push a note forward or backward. This would enable custom swing+triplets/tuplets. Add wavetable import. they are widely available online and consist of known cycle looping points.

A really fantastic music making app! This is now by far my favourite beat making app. Quick to get started with but has a rich set of features. Really nice set of built-in samples and you can import your own too. And a great, responsive developer who's generously open sourced the apps sound "engine".

OK, i GIVE. ......................... so, this app is great and all, but i really REALLY want to import an instrument (specifically piano), went through a LOT a trouble to make a WAV file, saw your post on Reddit, so i imported into the "Instrument Settings".. Well, that didn't really come out sounding like a Piano! Your Red. Post also mentions "*.simp" files... But i have no idea if this is made in the app... Orrrr... Download online somewhere?? Please HELP! I want to know!! Thank you!!

Audio is out of sync with what is visually going on. It just throws you off. Sputter is a great name for it.

Pretty fun, I'm still learning the basics. It would be nice if there was a way to perfectly reset the pan of an instrument back to center.
