The problem with it not working has gotten worse since my original review, not better! When it works, it's very handy... but the trigger that turns the screen black tends to disappear a lot, forcing me to go to the app to get it back. It would be better if that circle trigger was always available so I could black my screen quickly and with one hand. It's inconvenient to have to go to the app so often.

I paid for youtube premium, it worked well.. Then after quite a few months, it stopped playing on my Samsung lock screen . I tried every trick on videos none worked. In the process I saw several videos for this app. Although I was suspect....Well, it works impeccably every time! Very easy to use and now I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed! 5 stars for sure. Kudos and thanks to the developers !!

A truly unique solution for a problem I did not know I had. It works senselessly I bought the paid version the third time I used it. I like to listen to some of my favorite shows while working on projects. With this I can have my phone in my pocket and enjoy the audio while saving battery power. With the audio description available on newer releases I can even "watch" something while I can't keep my eyes on a screen. I've found that I use this more often than I thought I would.

Black Screen does exactly as stated: plays other apps in BACKGROUND MODE- and does so reliably. Doesn't crash, impose ads, or steal my valuable time or energy. I'm able to play YouTube with Screen off and the keys don't get inadvertently hit so the videos play as they should without skipping around. I still have to listen to the ads, (or partially...till I skip ad, which requires attentiveness on my part) ---but that's cause I refuse to pay for YouTube. NOT attributed to Black Screen app!

Outside the Target Demographic

Useful app to save battery with YouTube or other sites that don't allow you to lock your phone during use. I listen to podcasts (EFAP) on YouTube, and while working or driving, I can listen without being distracted by the screen by using this app. My only concern is screen burn, with the Always On function showing a clock, static in it's position. Meh.

5 stars.. it's awesome to listen to YouTube with screen off and not have to pay their outrageous 10 dollars a month for it. Cool.app devs. Thanks. I have one issue but I'm still checking options couldvbevmy fault.. after falling asleep with blackscreen on to listen to you tube meditations, I always seem to have a problem getting my phone to cooperate in the morning after waking up. Two days in a row and two different types of issues . But powering off always fixes it.

Only one that blacks out entire screen, and - after figuring it out - appreciate that it's simple to use; "enable it by sliding it to ON when you open the app. The little floating icon appears on the screen. Pull up and begin playing whatever video you want to listen to, then tap the icon to black out the screen. Tap the screen again to turn it on, slide the switch off on the app to get rid of the icon overlay.

Can listen to YouTube and other content with a black screen. You can set how many taps to activate, and when the screen is lit, there is an unobtrusive pip in the middle of the screen to activate. Adds haven't had sound so far, thank goodness. It only required permission to show on top of apps, which makes sense. Note for developer: Thank you! Don't ever do adds with sound, and don't increase the permissions. It works, don't fix it!
